Make your RAMS more visual by adding images and PDFs

You can now add images to tasks within your risk assessments to make them more visual, pictorial, and easier to understand. This feature improves the clarity and effectiveness of your risk assessment documentation.

Who can use this feature?

Plans: All individual, Teams, and Enterprise RAMS customers have access to this feature.

Users: any user who can create/edit RAMS can add images to their risks.

Admins and content editors can add default images if you have a custom content library.

Key details

  • File size limit: 10MB per image

  • Supported formats: PNG, JPG, PDF

  • Image editing: Resize images and add captions

  • Images appear in the final PDF documents

Best practice

  • Use clear, high-quality images that illustrate the specific risks or safety measures

  • Add descriptive captions to provide context

  • Keep file sizes reasonable for faster loading and processing


How to add images to risk assessments in RAMS

You can add images to your risk assessments in any new or existing RAMS projects on HandsHQ.

Step 1: Edit risk assessment & add images

When editing/creating your RAMS, head to the risk assessment section, and:

  1. Click "Edit" on the risk assessment where you want to attach the image

  2. Click "Edit task" on the section you want to attach the image to

    1. If you have multiple tasks, you need to select one to attach the image to

  3. Add your image(s) using one of these methods:

    • Drag and drop: Simply drag image files into the designated area

    • File selection: Click the Add Images button and select files from your computer

  4. Click Update to save the the image(s)

Step 2: Customise images (optional)

  • Resize: Adjust image dimensions as needed between Small, Medium, Large

  • Add captions: Include descriptive text for each image

  • Rearrange: Drag images to change order

  • Click "Update" to save your changes

Where images appear

Images are displayed within the task interface where you uploaded them. They will appear in the final PDF document under the specific task where you uploaded them, maintaining the layout and captions you configured.


Adding default images to your risk assessments

You can also add default images to your risk assessment in the Content library/Risk Register.

If you are an admin or content editor, simply head to the Content/Risk Register tab, and edit a risk assessment.

The option to add images will appear. Once saved, these will be default attached when this risk is used in future RAMS.


Permissions

Anyone who has permissions to edit RAMS documents in your account, can also:

  • Add images to tasks

  • Edit existing images

  • Remove images

  • Modify image captions and sizing


Troubleshooting

Image won't upload?

  • Check that your file is under 10MB

  • Ensure the file format is PNG, JPG, or PDF

  • Try refreshing the page and attempting the upload again

Can't see images in PDF?

  • Verify that you saved the task after adding images
