This article explains how to edit an extraction code to update contact info, adjust search settings, or change the share style. Edits can be made at any time before an extraction is run.
After an extraction code is created, you can update it as needed. Common reasons include:
Correcting a typo in the custodian email address
Adding or updating client information
Changing the share style (from custodian-led to auto-share)
Adjusting search parameters (keywords or date ranges)
Use the sections below based on whether the client has started the extraction yet. If you’re not sure, check the status of the extraction in your dashboard.
Before the Extraction is Run
You can make changes at any time before the extraction is started.
Step 1: Log in
Go to usehearsay.com/login and log in to your account.
Step 2: Click Edit
Click into the case, go to the Extraction Code tab, and click the Edit button next to the code you want to update.
Step 3: Make Changes and Save
Update the email address, search settings, or any other details. When finished, click Save.
If an email address is added or changed, the client will automatically receive a new email invitation with instructions and support information.
