How to share conversations from a previously completed backup

This article explains how to share conversations from an existing extraction backup without running a new one. No need to plug in the phone.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

If you’ve already completed an extraction, you can reopen it and share additional conversations without reconnecting your phone. This is helpful if you need to search for and share any threads you may have missed the first time. Just make sure the backup is still available on your device or external drive.

The extraction backup does not automatically include new messages sent or received after the original extraction. To pull in new conversations, you'll need to plug in the phone and resync your extraction.

Step 1: Open your backup

Click the Open button next to your case name under Last Opened.

If you don’t see the case listed, click See History, then click Open next to the correct backup.

If your extraction was saved to a flash drive or external hard drive, make sure it’s plugged in so the Extractor can access the data. If the extraction was completed on a different computer or the original save location has changed, click Find Existing Backup.

Step 2: Click Share New Conversations

Once the backup is open, click the Share New Conversations button to begin the selection process.

Step 3: Search, select, and share
