Landing Host Standards

Use this article to understand what Landing expects of you as a Host, how jobs are claimed and released, and how Landing handles performance.

Who this is for: Hosts working jobs on the Landing platform.

Landing has standards for every Host, in every city, state, and country Landing operates in. They exist so every home is fully finished, exceptionally clean, and ready to welcome a member.

As a Host you are a trusted ambassador for Landing in your hometown.

These standards keep the experience consistent for members, keep Landing in good standing with properties and contractors, and keep hosting enjoyable for you.

If you have a question about any of these standards, start a chat with Landing in the Host App.

Enjoy your Landing role

Positivity and joy are contagious. Your attitude comes through in every interaction with members, properties, and Landing staff, and it is appreciated.

How to conduct yourself on a job

  • Be polite and professional at all times. As a Host you are the face of Landing in your market. Pass any request from a property to Landing through the app, and Landing will handle it from there.

  • Never deliberately misinform or mislead a member, a property, a contractor, another Host, or Landing.

  • Do not smoke tobacco or any other substance while working with Landing. Smoking in a Landing home or on property grounds results in immediate removal from the platform.

  • Never interact with a member while under the influence of any substance. This results in immediate removal from the platform.

  • If you smell smoke or see signs that someone has been smoking in a home, tell Landing straight away.

  • Do not bring animals to a Landing home. If you need a service animal with you, contact Landing before your first job.

  • Complete every job on your own. Landing hires Hosts as independent contractors, so do not bring children, a partner, friends, or subcontractors with you.

  • Keep your noise down. The units around you are likely occupied.

  • Dispose of trash according to the property's policy, in the right location and the right bin. See Trash Disposal at a Landing Property.

  • Arrive with your phone charged to at least 80 percent, and bring your charger. Do not use your phone for anything that gets in the way of talking to Landing or a member during a job.

Where you can be on a Landing property

You are permitted at a Landing property or home only when Landing has directed you there through the Host App. Each job lists the property, the home, and the time frame, so follow what the job says.

Do not enter a Landing home that is not named in your app, and do not use property amenities.

Every property has a restroom in the lobby or a common area for you to use while you are on site. This keeps things clean and sanitary between home cleanings.

If a prospect asks to see other homes at the property during a tour, contact Landing through the app for permission and access instructions before you take them anywhere.

If a job runs over time

Tell Landing if your job is running longer than the time frame in the app. Landing will look at the situation and adjust your app to reflect the change if needed.

Your Host profile photo

Your profile photo must be professional and appropriate. It must:

  • Show you wearing a shirt

  • Show your full face

  • Be a photo of you on your own, not a group shot

  • Contain no peace signs, hand signs, or filters

  • Contain no alcohol, drugs, or weapons

Communicating with Landing

You are Landing's eyes and ears on the ground, so communicate clearly and consistently.

  • Reply to chat messages promptly.

  • Answer direct questions when Landing asks them.

  • Be clear about the status of a home or a job.

  • Be professional, courteous, and kind in every interaction.

Claiming jobs

Landing posts jobs in the Host App based on what Landing and its members need. Jobs are claimed first come, first served, based on your availability and what you want to work.

Keeping your app updated

Update your Landing Host App often. Landing adds information and features to it regularly, and running an old version can leave you without something you need on a job.

Cleanliness of homes

Every Landing home must meet the cleanliness standard set out in the Host App after a cleaning job, and during any other job in an unoccupied home.

You provide and bring your own cleaning supplies to every job. See Building Your Host Cleaning Kit for the full list. Landing recommends wearing gloves while cleaning, to protect you from cleaning products and illness.

If you have a question about cleanliness or cleaning procedures, start a chat with Landing.

Completing a job

Complete every task in a job before you leave the property. A job is not complete until every requested task is done.

If you cannot complete a task, contact Landing before you leave. See Canceled and Unable to Complete Job Pay for what happens next and how you are paid.

Releasing a job you cannot work

If you cannot work a job you have claimed, release it in the Host App as early as you can so another Host can pick it up. How much notice you need depends on whether the job is critical.

Job type

Release at least

Critical

24 hours before the start time

Non critical

3 hours before the start time

Once you are inside that deadline, the Host App will not let you release the job yourself. For a critical job that means inside 24 hours of the start time, and for a non critical job inside 3 hours. Contact Landing instead, tell them you cannot make the job, and ask for it to be removed from your app.

Releasing a job inside that window should only happen in extreme situations. Every time you do, a strike is added to your account. Three strikes and you are removed from the platform.

If you have to release a job for a reason outside your control, such as car trouble or a family or personal emergency, send Landing proof of the reason.

If you cannot make a job at all

Always tell Landing before the start time. Not contacting Landing before a job you cannot make is a no call no show.

No call no shows are serious, because a member is left without the service they are expecting and there is no time to arrange cover. A no call no show can be grounds for immediate removal from Landing.

Job safety

You have the right to leave a job if you feel unsafe or in danger.

If you decide to leave a home or a property for that reason, contact Landing straight away through the Host App with details of the situation and why you needed to leave.

Driving prospects and members

Never allow a prospect or a member into your personal vehicle, under any circumstances.

Some jobs, such as tours, involve travelling between properties. Where that happens, walk with the prospect or member if the distance allows, or travel separately in your own vehicles, by public transport, or by ride share.

Inspections

Host jobs are subject to inspection by tenured Hosts, Landing staff, or Landing members.

Inspections exist to give you tips, feedback, and support. After an inspection, Landing will contact you with feedback to help you improve. Inspection feedback contributes to your Host rating.

Parking

Finding and paying for parking is your responsibility. Landing does not cover parking fees.

Using your PEX Card

Use your PEX Card only when Landing directs you to through the Host App.

Activate your card when it arrives in your Landing Host Welcome Package.

See What is a PEX Card? for how to activate it and how the card works. Landing adds funds to your card as needed for the jobs you have claimed.

Never use your PEX Card for personal purchases, and do not buy items for a Landing home unless Landing has directed you to.

Reporting damages and issues

Tell Landing straight away about any damage, maintenance issue, or illegal activity in a Landing home. Send photos of the issue with your report, since they help Landing put it right.

Taxes

Landing sends every Host a 1099 for the work they complete with Landing.

Landing staff cannot advise you on tax matters, so speak to a tax professional if you need advice.

How Landing handles performance

Landing reviews Host performance against these standards. Failing to meet them affects members, properties, and other Hosts, and can lead to discipline up to and including removal from the platform.

See Host Removal and Strike Policy for how strikes work and what leads to removal.
