You can start recording directly in the App (and use features such as transcription and translation), or use the FlashRecord feature to record and save audio on the earbuds first, then transfer it back to the App for transcription and translation.
Record through the viaim App
After connecting the viaim earbuds to the viaim App, you can directly click the red button at the bottom to select the recording mode you need and start recording.
There are currently four recording modes available in the App:
Call Recording
Live Recording
Audio & Video Recording
Live Translation&Recording
If you start recording by tapping the red button on the viaim mobile app’s home screen, the recording will be saved locally on your phone.
When recording through the app, the maximum duration for a single recording is 5 hours.
For meetings longer than 5 hours, simply tap the record button again after the current recording ends to start a new session and continue recording. There is no limit on the total recording time.
Before you start recording, you can enable Real-time Transcription in Me → Recording Settings, or choose to transcribe the recording after it has finished.
If you enable Real-time Transcription, transcription and translation will run during the recording and consume your transcription time in real time.
If you turn off Real-time Transcription, you can record first and decide whether to transcribe and translate the recording after it ends.
Call Recording
Use case: Online meetings
(e.g. Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet)
You can record phone calls and online meetings (such as Zoom, Teams, etc.).
After the meeting starts, you can choose the call recording mode (cannot be started in non-call/meeting states), and click on the lower left corner to select the language you want for transcription (supports simultaneous transcription of up to 3 languages).
Pause: While recording, you can tap the Pause button to temporarily stop the recording.
Translate: You can also tap the Translate button and select your desired target language for real-time translation.
Safe Record: When attending online meetings (such as on Zoom), you can enable the Safe Record feature. This ensures that incoming phone calls will not interrupt your ongoing meeting recording.
Live Text Sharing: To share your ongoing recording with others, tap Live Text on the recording page. You can share the live transcript via a link or QR code, enabling others to view the text in real-time as it is being recorded.
Live Recording
Use case: In-person interviews and conversations
You can record face-to-face discussions and conversations.
The layout of the Pause, Translate, and Live Text sharing buttons is identical to the Call Recording interface. For detailed instructions, please refer to the descriptions above.
Audio & Video Recording
Use case: Watching audio or video content
(e.g. YouTube and other streaming platforms)
You can capture audio or video content (for example, from YouTube).
Click the language icon in the lower-left corner to select the transcription language (supports simultaneous transcription in up to three languages).
You can start the audio and video recording function at any time, but the App will only normally transcribe the audio and video content after you start playing them. Otherwise, the recording page's time progress bar will remain unchanged.
If you want to record online meetings (such as Zoom or Google Meet), please select the Call Recording mode instead of the Audio and Video Recording mode. Otherwise, you will only record the other participants' voices and not your own.
Live Translation & Recording
Use case: Overseas classes and foreign-language lectures
You can record in-person foreign-language classes or speeches, and have the content translated in real time through your earbuds.
During use, bring the phone close to the sound source, and the headphones will play the translated content. At the same time, you can view the transcriptions of the original and translated texts in real-time on the recording details page.
When you hear the content of a foreign language lecture, you can hear the real-time translation into the language of your choice in the earbuds.
⚠️ Please note that, unlike the Live Translation & Recording mode, using real-time translation during call recording or other recording modes will only provide translated text on the screen—you will not be able to hear the translated audio through the earbuds.
Record through FlashRecord
FlashRecord lets you start recording instantly without opening the App. Recordings are saved directly to the built-in storage on the earbuds.
Transferring Recordings
After the recording ends, connect the earbuds to the viaim App to transfer recordings to your phone for transcription, translation, and further processing.
We recommend transferring your recordings after each session to keep the storage clear and ready for use.
Storage & Recording Time
Each earbud has a limited built-in storage capacity.
The available recording time depends on the recording mode:
Up to 2 hours of call recordings
Up to 1 hour of live recordings
Once you transfer and clear the recordings, the storage is refreshed and ready for use again — so there's no hard limit on total recording time as long as you transfer regularly.

How to start FlashRecord
Squeeze the earbud stem for a few seconds
Supported Models: RecDot, OpenNote, Nano+
When starting FlashRecord by squeezing the earbud stem, make sure at least one earbud is worn.
Squeeze the touch-sensitive area until you hear the start sound effect — the earbud will then begin recording calls or live audio.
In this scenario, the start-up sound for FlashRecord is played only through your earbuds to notify you, and cannot be heard by others.
To stop FlashRecord, squeeze the stem again. The recording will end after you hear the end sound effect.
Note: Both the start and end of recording are indicated by sound effects only; there is no voice prompt.
Press the red button inside the charging case.
Supported Models: RecDot
Please keep the charging case lid open with at least one earbud inside.
Do not close the case during recording.
Press the red FlashRecord button on the charging case to start.
The L or R indicator will light up and begin flashing — indicating which earbud is recording.
To stop FlashRecord, place the recording earbud back into the charging case, then press the red FlashRecord button again.
When using a single earbud, all recordings will be stored by default in the earbud that remains inside the charging case.
Please note that when FlashRecord is started by pressing the red button on the charging case, the charging case itself will not play a prompt sound.
You can check whether recording has started properly by observing the flashing indicator lights on the left/right earbuds.
Earbuds Storage
When using Flash Record, the available recording time on a single earbud depends on the recording mode. Each earbud can store up to 2 hours of call recordings or 1 hour of live recordings.
You can transfer the recordings back to the App at any time to free up the earbud’s storage space.
It’s recommended to download your recordings after each session to free up storage space on the earbuds.
Download to Phone
After connecting your earbuds to the App, tap the blue banner at the top of the Records page to download the recordings saved on your earbuds.
