Create a custom voice

Step-by-step instructions for recording or uploading audio to create a new custom voice, plus what to expect before you save it

Updated yesterday

Step 1: Open the custom voice creator

You can start from any of these places:

  • My Videos → My voices → Add +New voice

  • New character (or editing existing character) → Voice dropdown → Create new voice

  • Script creation → Narrator dropdown → Create a new voice

Step 2: Choose how you’ll add audio

Option A: Record your voice

  1. Click Record (or the microphone icon).

  2. Speak naturally — or imitate a different voice! — or at least 15 seconds.

    • Aim for more seconds if you can. More data usually means better quality.

  3. When you’re done, click the red button.

  4. Listen to the preview.

    • If you’re not happy with the audio, choose Record again and try again.

  5. When you like the recording,

    • name your voice (it will default to My Voice)

    • click Create voice.

Option B: Upload a recording

  1. Click Upload.

  2. Select an audio file from your device.

    1. Must be .wav or .mp4 file

    2. Must be less than 10MB

  3. Make sure the file:

    • Contains only one voice.

    • Has minimal background noise or music.

    • Is at least 15 seconds long.

  4. Wait for the upload to finish, then click Next.

  5. Listen to the preview.

    • If you’re not happy with the audio, choose Record again and try again.

  6. When you like the recording,

    • name your voice (it will default to My Voice)

    • click Create voice.

Step 3: Review your custom voice

After processing, you’ll get a preview of the generated voice:

  1. Click Play to listen.

  2. If the result doesn’t sound right:

    • Go back and record or upload a new sample.

  3. If you’re happy with it, name your voice and click Create voice.

⚠️ Important:
Once you click Create voice, you cannot:

  • Re-record the base audio

  • Upload a new file for that same voice

  • Rename the voice

If you need to change it later, you’ll have to delete the voice and create a new one.

Step 4: Use your custom voice

Once saved, your custom voice will be available:

  • In the Voices section of My Videos

  • In the Voice dropdown for characters

  • In the Narrator voice options in the script/editor

You’re now ready to use your custom voice in any new video!
