Restrict Access to Surveys for Specific Users

Portal users are now able to assign volunteers directly from Field > Surveys without needing to go into the survey itself. As a result, administrative users can now limit other users' abilities to create and access surveys.

Permissions

The permissions associated with survey creation include:

  • Survey Builder (or Group: Survey Creation): includes survey creation, editing, assignments, and publishing

  • Surveys (or Group: Survey Assignments): includes the list view and volunteer assignments

To remove access to creating and editing surveys, remove Survey Builder from a user's profile.

This action will make it so a user cannot select 'Create Survey'. They will also not be able to click into any existing surveys.

Assigning Volunteers from the Survey Grid

Users no longer need to have access to specific surveys in order to assign them as volunteers. They can simply select the check box next to the survey and refer to the 'Assign' option in the bottom action bar. For call surveys, they can assign to a volunteer in a single step. For walk surveys, they can then assign via grid view or map view.

If a user selects more than one survey from the survey grid, they will be prompted to Assign > To Volunteer. This will enable the default assignment setting for walk surveys:

  1. Volunteers will be assigned to 3 random walkbooks in the app.

  2. Once a volunteer selects a book, the other books will disappear until this one is finished.

  3. Users can override this setting by manually assigning via grid view or map view.
