Fraud Prevention Methods

To help ease concerns over volunteers potentially falsifying responses, i360 provides multiple resources to check their progress and validity.

Canvassing Report

Collection Points

Collection Points are blue dots on Canvassing Report maps that indicate a volunteer's location while knocking for a survey. You can make sure they're enabled by checking the box next to 'Show collection points on map'. They should be within approximately a 0.3 mi radius of a home to show that the volunteer was physically at a household. Some neighborhoods will display dots at every home, while others will display dots more sporadically. The location of the dot will depend on what a satellite picks up, so results can vary.

Collection points are beyond 0.3 mi and indicate volunteer did not visit the household

Collection points indicate that the volunteer visited the household

Timestamps

Hover over a collection point to view the timestamp of a volunteer when they talked to someone at the door. Time stamps that are too close together could indicate fraud.

Survey Download Reports

Review recorded responses at an individual level by downloading a survey report. This report can help identify specific individuals that a volunteer spoke with, their responses, and any notes that were recorded. These are useful to download when trying to verify information off of other reports including Canvassing Report and dashboards.

Grassroots View and Daily Toplines

Review the Grassroots View or Daily Toplines dashboards to see volunteer progress day-by-day and over specific date ranges. By comparing progress for multiple volunteers, especially over time, you can better identify anomalies if volunteers are recording too many takes or hitting too many doors too quickly. While take rates vary based on geography and time of day, a volunteer who knocks more than 60 doors in an hour or has a consistent take rate of 20% would be a couple examples worth investigating.

Performance Check

i360 provides the Performance Check dashboard as an add-on to identify anomalies based on extreme take rates and far away locations. This dashboard will also help identify if someone has their location turned off. For more information on this option, check out our help guide.
