Overview

Tobe Twin's intelligence framework is divided into distinct top-level categories that track both human and mechanical resources across the site.

1. Equipment Tracking (IoT / Plant & Fleet)

The goal of equipment tracking is to optimise utilisation, improve safety, and provide both historical and real-time visibility into site assets.

  • Location & Visibility: Identifying misplaced or idle equipment on the map and enforcing compliance for vehicles operating outside project boundaries.

  • Utilisation & Productivity: Tracking total runtime versus idle time to optimise fleet sizes and understand how equipment is deployed across tasks.

  • Safety & Behaviour Monitoring: Intervening early when safety events like speeding or harsh braking occur, and tracking fleet-wide safety trends.

  • Zone & Geofence Intelligence: Alerting supervisors when equipment enters restricted or high-risk zones to prevent incidents.

2. People Tracking & Worksite Behaviour

Focuses on tracking workforce movements to increase tool time and site safety.

  • Workface Tracking: Tracking workers movements throughout the day, and classifying those movements into known work spans (time they spend in a defined area). This allows calculation of worker utilisation by understanding the amount of time they spend in productive and non productive areas each day.

  • Zone Movement: Generating visual movement overlays directly on the site map to identify heavy foot traffic. This allows project managers to optimise site layouts, such as moving material storage closer to active work fronts to save time.

3. Load & Haul Cycle Management (Bulk Earthworks)

Provides real-time and historical analysis of bulk earthworks operations.

  • Cycle Analytics: Tracking the specific segments of haulage (Load, Haul, Dump, Return, Queue) to identify bottlenecks, such as queue times exceeding optimal thresholds.

  • Unified Production: Combining onsite ADT (Articulated Dump Truck) data with offsite hired road truck data to monitor total material moved ($/m³ or total m³) across the entire logistics chain.

4. Cross-Domain Insights (Plant + People)

The most powerful use cases emerge when equipment telemetry is correlated with workforce presence.

  • Bottleneck Identification: Visually overlaying equipment activity and workforce presence to automatically identify inefficiencies, such as an excavator idling while a crew of workers is present waiting, or vice versa.

  • Safety Interaction: Detecting when people and heavy plant interact in unsafe ways or in proximity to reduce operational risk.
