Overview
Managing heavy plant, haulage fleets, and auxiliary construction equipment across expansive sites requires real-time spatial visibility and accurate status reporting.
The Fleet Visibility Dashboard within the 4D Viewer provides supervisors and fleet managers with an interactive 3D map view of all assigned equipment. By combining live telemetry ingestion, local offline caching, automatic reconnection sync, and flexible filtering by work zone or asset category, site teams can immediately identify active, idle, or disconnected machinery.
Prerequisites
Before starting this workflow, ensure you have:
Authenticated and logged into the SensGrid platform.
Loaded a project in the 4D Viewer containing connected fleet instruments or telemetry trackers.
Configured or imported work zone GIS boundaries for your site.
Workflow Sequence:
Filter Fleet: Filter instruments by project, site work zone, or plant/device type.
Inspect Asset Map: View equipment status pins on the 3D map (active, idle, offline).
Review Usage Metrics: Open the Selection Inspector to inspect last ping timestamps, last known location, and operating summaries.
Offline & Cached Sync: Rely on local browser storage during connectivity drops; view auto-pushed updates upon reconnection.
1. Filter Fleet by Project, Zone, or Equipment Type
Narrow down large fleet inventories to specific work areas or machinery types:
Open the Devices (Instruments) panel from the left Work Panel.
Select your target Work Zone using the Sites Filter dropdown at the top of the viewer.
Toggle overall device states (Active, Filtered, Inactive) using the horizontal Device State Bar banner at the top of the screen.
Use the search and dropdown controls:
Search Bar: Search by plant number, registration number, equipment model, or operator notes.
Device Type Filter: Filter by category (e.g., Excavators, Loaders, Haul Trucks).
Sort Dropdown: Sort assets alphabetically by Name or by Device Type.
2. Locate Assets and Visualise Status on the 3D Map
Examine live and last known positions in 3D spatial context:
Locate the equipment card in the Devices list.
Double-click the card to fly the 3D camera directly to the asset's geographic coordinates (Latitude, Longitude, Elevation).
Observe status indicators on the map and device item card:
Active: Green telemetry heartbeat and recent movement trail.
Idle / Filtered: Dithered 3D model icon with filter indicator badge on map labels.
Inactive / Offline: Semi-transparent label displaying Last Known Location and Last Ping Timestamp (inactivity threshold set via 5 Minutes, 15 Minutes, or Workspan Inactive options on the Device State Bar).
3. Inspect Daily Utilisation and Status Summaries
Examine operational metrics for selected plant items:
Single-click an asset card or map marker to select it.
Open the Selection Inspector on the right panel.
Review the summary metrics:
Operating Hours: Total running hours accumulated over the selected shift or day.
Distance & Odometer: Distance travelled (meters/km) and total odometer reading.
Trip Count: Total movement cycles/trips recorded.
Last Activity: Timestamp of the latest telemetry packet processed.
4. Work Offline and Auto-Sync Telemetry Data
Ensure continuity when working in low-connectivity site areas:
The viewer automatically saves project data and instrument telemetry to local offline storage.
If connection is lost:
The UI displays an Offline state banner.
Map pins retain their Last Known Location and Last Ping Timestamp.
Telemetry queries utilize cached data without throwing connectivity errors.
Upon network reconnection:
The background sync service automatically pushes cached updates and fetches live telemetry updates within ≤ 60 seconds.
