Battery Device - Manta Fusion

Learn about the Manta Fusion (Digital Matter Manta Fusion BLE) compact battery-powered tracker and BLE gateway, deployed for tracking low-cost site plant, tool stores, gang boxes, and scanning surrounding BLE tags.

Written by Ken Panitz

Overview

The Manta Fusion (Digital Matter Manta Fusion series) is a compact, IP68-rated battery-powered telemetry tracker equipped with an integrated high-capacity Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) gateway.

Designed for low-cost site plant, gang boxes, and site containers, the Manta Fusion simultaneously tracks its own GPS location while continuously scanning nearby BLE tags attached to tools, equipment, or workforce personnel.

Target Asset Applications

The Manta Fusion is deployed for:

  • Gang Boxes & Tool Chests: Track tool box locations and scan contained BLE-tagged power tools.

  • Site Sheds & Store Containers: Monitor storage container positions and inventory contents.

  • Site Facilities: Track relocated site toilets, mobile generators, and lighting towers.

  • Workforce BLE Gateways: Function as a stationary BLE gateway at site access gates or crib rooms.

Telemetry & Derived Analytics

RAW Data Captured:

  • GPS Location: Periodic spatial coordinates (latitude, longitude).

  • Accelerometer Data: Motion state, vibration intensity, impact events.

  • Temperature & Tamper Alerts: Ambient temperature and unmount tamper switch.

  • Scanned BLE Tag Array: Real-time list of scanned BLE MAC addresses and Eddystone Unique IDs.

Implied Platform Analytics:

  • Location & Path History: Spatial placement across site workfronts.

  • Virtual Run Hours ($hrs$): Operating hours derived from movement/vibration.

  • Scanned BLE Tag Array: Live inventory of nearby BLE-tagged tools inside the gang box.

  • Workforce & Driver Tags: Detect nearby BLE driver tags or helmet tags for operator verification.

Operational Use Cases

  • Gang Box Tool Audit: "Have all 18V drills been returned to the gang box at the end of shift?"

  • Site Shed Location: "Where has the site store container been relocated?"

  • Asset Security: "Alert if a gang box is moved outside work hours or unmounted."

Summary & Next Steps

  • Key Takeaway: The Manta Fusion combines long-life battery tracking with BLE gateway inventory scanning, making it ideal for gang boxes and tool storage management.

  • Next Steps: See BLE Device - Minew Helmet Tags for tags scanned by the Manta gateway.
