How to create a new Insight
Go to Reports and create an Insight from any of these places:
Click New Insight in the Reports header
In the Reports sidebar, open the Create options menu (the +) and select New Insight
Inside a Space, open the Space options menu and select Create Insight to create it directly in that Space
Option 1:
Option 2:
When the Insight opens, use the header fields to set it up. Choose an icon next to the title (you can also upload an image), enter a name (placeholder: Untitled Report), and optionally add a description (placeholder: Report description...).
Build your Insight (the main settings)
Most of the setup happens in the right-hand panel, with a live preview on the left.
Start by choosing a Data Source. Select Data Source, then choose what you want to report on. You can use Search sources… to find the right option.
After you choose a data source, you can refine what the Insight shows:
Add filter: limit the results
Metric: choose what you want to measure
Group by: turn a single number into a grouped view
Breakdown By: add a second level of grouping for bar charts, area charts, and tables (when available)
Visualisation: choose how the results display, like Single metric, Bar chart, Area chart, Pie chart, Contribution graph, Funnel chart, Table, or Map
A few things to know while you are building. Some visualisations only become available after you add a Group by. Map is designed for client or staff locations and requires grouping by address. If you want to reload the latest numbers, use Refresh report data in the header.
Single vs Grouped Series (optional)
In the header, you can switch the Insight mode between Single and Grouped Series. Single is for one data source and one view. Grouped Series is for comparing multiple series in the one Insight. You can set up series with their own data source, metric, and filters, then view them together.
Save your Insight
If you are creating a brand new Insight, click Create to save it.
For an existing Insight, you will see Save when you have changes, especially if autosave is off. There is also Save options where you can use Save as New Insight to create a new copy.
Manage your Insight after saving
Open the Insight actions menu (three dots) to manage behaviour and access:
Autosave Changes: saves edits automatically while you work
Protect Insight: locks the Insight so it cannot be edited until unprotected
Move to Space: organise the Insight into a Space (this is disabled until the Insight is saved)
Duplicate Insight
Delete Insight (disabled if the Insight is protected)
What happens next
After saving, your Insight will appear in the Reports sidebar under Insights (either inside a Space, or under loose Insights if it is not filed). It will also appear in the Reports Activity view for recent work. You can then add the Insight to a Dashboard when you are ready.
