Creating a Dashboard

A Dashboard is a page in Reports where you can place multiple Insights together, plus optional text cards for headings and notes. It is useful when you want one place to check the same set of numbers and tables without opening multiple reports.

How to create a new Dashboard

Go to Reports and create a Dashboard from any of these places:

  • Click New Dashboard in the Reports header

  • In the Reports sidebar, open the Create options menu (the +) and select New Dashboard

  • Inside a Space, open the Space options menu and select Create Dashboard to create it directly in that Space

When the dashboard opens, give it a title and description. The title field shows Dashboard title, and the description field shows Description....

Add Insights and text cards

Use the Insight button in the dashboard header to add content. This opens the Add Insight window, where you can search and filter to find what you need.

You can add two types of cards:

  • Insight cards, which display saved Insights you have already created

  • A Text card, which is a rich text block you can use for headings, notes, and lists

You can add the same Insight more than once if you want to show it in different sizes or place it in multiple spots.

Arrange the dashboard layout

Cards sit on a grid. You can drag cards to rearrange them and resize them to fit the layout you want.

Each card has its own card menu (three dots). Depending on the card type and whether the dashboard is protected, you can do things like:

  • Open Insight Builder (for Insight cards) to jump back to the Insight setup

  • Show Insight Title (turn the card header on or off)

  • Lock Position (stops the card from being moved by accident)

  • Duplicate Text Card (for Text cards)

  • Export as PNG (exports that card)

  • Remove Card (removes it from the dashboard)

Saving your dashboard

When you first create a dashboard, click Create to save it. After that, you will normally see Save when you have changes.

Dashboards also support Autosave Changes. When autosave is on, your changes save automatically after a short moment while you work. When autosave is off, you will need to click Save.

Tip for undo and redo

If Autosave Changes is on, you can use standard undo and redo shortcuts while you are not typing into a text field:

  • Undo: Ctrl or Cmd + Z

  • Redo: Ctrl or Cmd + Shift + Z, or Ctrl or Cmd + Y

Refreshing data and auto refresh

Dashboards include a Refresh data button to reload the latest results. There is also an auto refresh interval control where you can choose an interval or turn it off.

Dashboard settings and sharing

Open Dashboard settings (the settings button in the header) to manage how the dashboard behaves over time. Options include:

  • Autosave Changes

  • Auto layout

  • Protect Dashboard

  • Set as Home Page (available after the dashboard is saved)

  • Pin to sidebar (available after the dashboard is saved)

  • Export Data, which opens Export Data where you can export:

    - A PNG image of the dashboard as you see it

    - Dashboard cards as CSV files in one ZIP archive

  • Duplicate Dashboard

  • Delete Dashboard

You can also copy the dashboard URL from the header, which is useful when sharing a direct link with your team.

Organising dashboards into Spaces

Spaces and subfolders help keep dashboards tidy. You can create dashboards directly inside a Space, and you can also drag dashboards between loose Dashboards and Spaces in the Reports sidebar.

Troubleshooting

If you cannot add cards, move cards, or edit the title, check whether Protect Dashboard is turned on.

If you do not see a dashboard you created, check the Spaces section and the loose Dashboards section in the Reports sidebar. Dashboards and Insights sections can also be collapsed.
