How to setup and implement Microsoft SNDS to monitor your IP Reputation

Updated over a week ago

The following article outlines the processes for both creating a Microsoft account, and for using your Microsoft account to monitor IP Reputation within Outlook and Microsoft's Smart Network Data Services (SNDS).

Create a Microsoft Account:

If you don't already have a Microsoft account, you will need to create one. This account will be used to access the SNDS portal.

Register for SNDS:

Once you have a Microsoft account, you should be able to access the SNDS website (https://postmaster.live.com/snds/). You may be prompted to provide a few details about your company and email program to complete this step.

When access is granted, you should see an option to Request Access from the main page, either via the Getting Started section or from the left side navigation pane.

IP Request Submission:

From within the Request Access page, you can now input your IP(s) to submit your request. This page offers several options for IP submission:

  • Single IP address: 1.2.3.4

  • Range: 1.2.3.0 - 1.2.3.255

  • CIDR: 1.2.3.0/24

  • ASN: AS123

Request Authorization:

Once you submit your IP(s), you'll be prompted with a selection of email addresses associated with the specified IP/Network's ownership. Select the address that would receive ownership verification for your IPs. If you're unsure of which address to select, you can confirm with your ESP or IP Management team.

πŸ’‘ Several ISPs have preferred email addresses to be used with SNDS submission. For example, Salesforce requests that SNDS requests be sent to abuse@c.exacttarget.com.

Add Comments:

This request will be submitted to the address you've chosen above, and it is recommended that additional context be added to this request to help clarify who is making the request and for what purpose. It is recommended that the following details be included:

  • Name and Email Address

  • Company Name

  • Support Ticket (if available)

  • Salesforce Only: MID Number

Confirm your Request:

The next step is to reach out to your ESP and/or IP Management team from outside of the SNDS ecosystem to confirm your request. This can typically be done through Support ticket submissions, or by contacting the same support email alias chosen above directly from your company email address.

Confirmation and Integration:

Once you receive confirmation that your request has been accepted, your IP(s) will now be monitored within Microsoft SNDS. Additional IPs can be requested at any time using the same method.

Now you're ready to integrate your Microsoft SNDS account with Inbox Monster! Instructions for this process can be found here.
