To perform packing tasks, you must pre-define the units and materials used for each crop. In Ation, packing units are categorized into Packages and Boxes. You can customize these settings to match the actual packing workflow used at your farm.
1. Access the Setting Screen
To configure packing tasks, first navigate to the Settings - Packing screen.
2. Role Settings
Define the roles of the workers who will perform packing-related tasks.
Packer: Responsible for all tasks related to crop packaging (e.g., packing packages/boxes, sorting, inspection).
Forklift Driver: Responsible for moving pallets loaded with boxes. The number of boxes recorded by the forklift operator is logged as the Production Ouput produced by the farm.
3. Box Type Settings
Enter the types of boxes that will be loaded onto pallets for forklift transport. Simply enter the names of the box types actually used at your farm.
4. Crop Photos & Specifications
Crop Photo: Add a representative photo of the crop to help workers identify it easily.
Spec. : Add the various grades or standards for the crop.
5. Adding Specifications
Click + Add Spec to open the popup.
Enter the Specification Name (e.g., Size, Color) based on your farm's classification system.
Enter Options for each specification. For example, if the name is 'Size', options could be 'Large', 'Medium', and 'Small'.
Click Add to save your settings.
6. Adding Packages
Now, configure the Package, which is the unit used to pack the crops. Click the + Add Package button at the top right. Enter the details in the popup as they should appear when a worker records their progress.
Package Name: Enter the name at the top.
Package Photo: We recommend uploading an actual photo of the finished package for easy identification by workers.
Package Weight: Enter the weight in units of kg, lbs, oz, or g.
Box Configuration : Choose the box that this package belongs to. This refers to the unit moved by the forklift and represents the final output of production.
Contains(Quantity per Box): Enter how many packages fit into one box (e.g., enter '4' if 4 packages go into 1 box).
Select Spec: Choose the pre-configured crop specification for this package.
Select Tracking Method: Choose how the worker will log their work.
7. Tracking Methods
QTY: The worker enters the result as a count.
Example: If packing strawberries into plastic containers, select "Qty," name the task, and set a Default Quantity (the number displayed by default in the app).
Time: The worker’s results are measured by duration.
Example: If you want to measure how much time is spent on sorting, select "Time" and name the task accordingly.
8. Creating / Editing / Deleting Activity
If a specific activity is not in the list, you can type a new activity name directly into the input field to add it. You can manage (edit/delete) these added acivity in the Settings - Activity menu.
Final Step
Once the packing settings are complete, the details will be reflected in the Worker App. Workers can then scan the Packing QR code, select the crop, package, and task type, and begin their work.
