Ation Payroll Management supports three payment frequencies: Weekly, Bi-Weekly, and Monthly. Bi-Weekly pays workers once every two weeks — the calculation method is the same as Weekly, but the calculation period spans 14 days.
Setting Up Bi-Weekly Pay
Go to Workforce → Payroll → Settings tab.
Click the Edit button on the right side of the Schedule Settings section.
Select Bi-Weekly as the Payment Frequency.
Set the Reference date From this date, payroll will recur every two weeks on the same cycle.
Select the Payday (day of the week).
Review the upcoming calculation periods in the payroll schedule preview.
Click Save.
A confirmation pop-up will appear before saving. Review the contents and click Confirm to apply the settings.
What is the Reference Date?
The reference date is the first day of your bi-weekly calculation cycle. For example, if set to 2026.04.13, the subsequent periods will repeat in two-week intervals: 04.13–04.26, 04.27–05.10, and so on.
The reference date must be set to a date after today.
Temporary Settlements When Changing Pay Frequency
If you switch to Bi-Weekly from an active Weekly or Monthly schedule, a gap may occur between the end of the previous calculation period and the new reference date. Ation automatically handles this gap as temporary settlements.
You can review the following in the payroll schedule preview before saving:
Temporary Settlement 1: Records from the last day of the previous cycle's final period through the day before today.
Temporary Settlement 2: Records from today through the day before the new reference date.
First Bi-Weekly Period: The first full cycle under the new settings.
Records from temporary settlement periods are saved as separate entries in History. All past payroll records are safely retained after the change.
