Turning your course into a task course

To turn an existing course into a tasks course we recommend you duplicate your course. Then, in the duplicate, turn tasks on.

This means you can refer back to your original course when needed.

Pick the right task
There is a wide range of tasks available make sure you choose the right one. Each task type has a specific submission requirement. For instance, if you have used open response previously you now get to choose between audio, video, file upload or essay.

Check our Tasks collection of "how-to" articles for further instructions. And, if you're stuck for ideas, we've got a whole range of articles with ideas for using tasks in a range of ways. Check them out at Creating (better) course content.

Decide how each task is marked
Tasks give you the flexibility to decide how each task is marked. Make sure you choose the right marking template for each task you add to your course.

Setting up a quiz
You can add a quiz using tasks and the quiz can also have randomised themes.

Badges
In a task course, learners need to complete every task in the course and view every page. Currently, a badge being awarded is based only on task completion not on whether the task was correct/incorrect.

If you only want the badge to be awarded once a learner has successfully completed all/some of the tasks, you can set it to be manually awarded.

Marking
Depending on the marking template chosen for the task you can provide mark/ and or feedback for assessed and non-assessed tasks. Currently, you cannot edit a mark, but this is coming soon.ย
