Overview of software as a service
Software as a services (or SaaS) is a cloud-based system where, instead of your IT team installing and running software on your own servers, the hosting is provided as part of the software and multiple users can access it via the internet.
While customers have specific environments and data stored in the cloud that they access and work in, the underlying software source is the same for everyone, so when new features or software updates are rolled out, they roll out to everyone.
SaaS is how a vast number of companies provide their services these days, and you probably use plenty in your day-to-day life, like Netflix and Facebook.
Software as a service and iQualify
We are a SaaS company, so all you need to create courses and run classes is a subscription and an internet connection.
Like most SaaS businesses, we run on a subscription model. The billing for the majority of our partners is based on active use, so you only pay for what you use, rather than shouldering an upfront cost for a perpetual license, support, maintenance and other fees.
It also allows us to keep your learning platform current with regular updates. These range from tiny performance enhancements or small fixes that you wouldn’t notice, right through to big new features to enhance yours and your learners' experience. Given the regularity of minor changes to our platform, obviously we don’t notify you about all of them; we’d be spamming you daily! But rest assured, any big changes or new features will be communicated with you.
The SaaS model also means that while there’s plenty about your environment you can customise, it’s not a completely bespoke software that can be individually tailored to every client. Though it’s amazing what you can do with a few simple integrations to set your environment up for success.
