Packaging Guidelines

What you'll learn

How to pack your items so they reach the buyer in one piece. The focus is on the best-selling categories on Jamble: cards (Pokémon and other TCGs), graded cards and diecast (Hot Wheels and other miniatures).

Good packaging takes a few extra minutes per order and prevents damaged items, complaints and cancellations.

Before you start

Have at home:

  • Cards and boosters: sleeves, toploaders, small bags to seal them (team bags), rigid envelopes or small boxes

  • Graded cards: bubble wrap and rigid boxes the size of the graded card

  • Diecast: bubble wrap, cardboard boxes of different sizes and paper to fill empty spaces

  • Always: wide packing tape and the printed shipping label

Checklist by category

Packaging checklist with the materials for cards, graded cards and diecast

Loose cards

  1. Put each card in a sleeve

  2. Put the sleeve inside a rigid toploader

  3. Close the toploader with a small bag or a strip of tape, so the card does not slide out

  4. Use a rigid envelope or a small box with a layer of bubble wrap

  5. If you use an envelope, write NÃO DOBRAR (do not bend) on the outside

Never ship loose cards in a regular envelope. They can bend on the way.

Graded cards

  1. Wrap the whole graded card in two layers of bubble wrap

  2. Use a rigid cardboard box, not an envelope

  3. Fill the empty spaces with crumpled paper or more bubble wrap, until nothing moves

  4. Put wide tape on every seam of the box

A padded envelope does not protect a graded card well. The case can scratch and crack at the corners.

Hot Wheels and diecast

  1. Wrap the whole original packaging in two layers of bubble wrap

  2. Use a cardboard box with a little extra room for filling

  3. Fill all the empty space with crumpled paper. If the piece rattles, the original packaging can tear

  4. For lots with several pieces, wrap each one separately before putting them in the box

For diecast out of its original packaging, wrap the piece in tissue paper before the bubble wrap.

Do and avoid

Do

  • Use wide packing tape on every edge and seam

  • Use two layers of bubble wrap on fragile items

  • Choose a box the size of the item, without too much empty space

  • Put the item in a plastic bag before packing, to protect it from moisture

  • Stick the shipping label on the largest flat side, clearly visible

Avoid

  • Weak tape or masking tape, which can come off in transit

  • String, rope or rubber bands on the outside of the parcel

  • Reused boxes with old labels or barcodes, which confuse scanning

  • Newspaper touching the item directly, because the ink can stain

Box size

Use a box the size of the item. A box that is too big makes shipping more expensive and the item moves around. A box that is too small can burst.

Correios requires boxes and parcels to be at least 16 × 11 × 2 cm. If the item is smaller, use a box or envelope that reaches this size.

After packing, check that the weight and size of the parcel match what is on the product. See Choose a shipping profile.

The shake test

Before closing the box, shake it gently. If you feel or hear the item moving, add more filling. It is the simplest way to avoid damage on the way.

Important tips

  • Do not oversize. A box that is too big costs more and protects less

  • Reuse with care. Only reuse a box if it is sturdy and has no old labels

  • One label per parcel, on the largest flat side, with no tape over the barcode

  • Take a photo of the closed parcel before dropping it off. It helps if any question comes up later

  • Think of the buyer. Packaging is the first impression of your product

Frequently asked questions

Can I use any box? Yes, as long as it is intact and at least the Correios minimum size. It does not have to be a Correios box.

What if the item still arrives damaged? Contact support in the app chat. Photos of the packaging before shipping help understand what happened.

Do I need to put any document with the parcel? The invoice step happens in the app, before you generate the label. When there is no invoice, the document you print already includes the content declaration. Print everything that comes with the label. See Generate and print shipping labels. A thank you note is optional, but buyers usually like it.

What if the parcel ended up bigger than what the product says? Contact support before generating the label. See Make a shipping adjustment.
