Getting Started with Boulevard Reporting

Written by Marie London

We're excited to bring you an expanded reporting experience. If you don't see the reporting features described below, don't worry—this updated reporting experience will become available to your account over time.

Overview

Boulevard reporting gives you visibility into how your business is performing across revenue, bookings, clients, staff, marketing, and inventory. The Reports tab supports both quick performance checks and in-depth operational analysis — this guide covers how it's organized and how to get the most out of it.

From the Reports tab, you can access Boulevard's Dashboards, Detailed Reports, and customized Views.

Views

The Views tab is where every saved report configuration lives — the ones you've created and any others published for the business. See Views for details on how to find, use, and manage custom report views.

Dashboards

Dashboards give you a visual snapshot of business performance using key metrics pulled from your reports. Two dashboards are currently available:

Dashboards let you filter by date range, location, or staff, but cannot be customized beyond those filters. To dig into the data you're seeing on any of the visual widgets, click the > icon in the corner to access the source report.

Detailed Reports

Detailed Reports provide access to the full library of detailed reports, organized into six categories:

  • Appointments: booking activity and appointment-level records

  • Catalog: services, products, memberships, and inventory

  • Clients: retention, loyalty, referrals, and outstanding balances

  • Financials: transactions and revenue data for reconciliation

  • Marketing: campaign performance and booking attribution

  • Staff Operations: productivity, commissions, time tracking, and retention impact

Select a category to view the reports organized within it and select one to access it.

Reports open in a default state, but can be customized and filtered to meet your specific needs. Once you've adjusted a report, you can save that version with a descriptive name so it's quick and easy to access in the future, or discard the changes entirely.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Reports only pull data from closed orders, so recently completed appointments may take a few minutes to appear

  • Data refreshes periodically throughout the day — check the "Last updated" timestamp if something looks incomplete

  • If data appears missing, confirm your date range is set correctly and that the related orders have been closed

  • You can export a report without needing to save a view

Where to Start

If you're new to reporting, begin with the Dashboards. They surface the most important performance signals without requiring any setup, and make it easy to spot trends before you dig into the details.

When you're ready to go deeper, move to Detailed Reports and start with the category that matches your question:

  • Booking volume or appointment status → Appointments

  • Revenue, sales, or transactions → Financials

  • Client retention or loyalty activity → Clients

  • Staff productivity or commissions → Staff Operations

  • Inventory, services, or product setup → Catalog

  • Campaign or marketing performance → Marketing

Starting with the right category reduces unnecessary searching and gets you to the right report faster. See Detailed Reports for a complete list of available reports and what each covers.

Reporting Best Practices

  • Start broad, then drill down: Use Dashboards to get a high-level view, then move to Detailed Reports for deeper analysis.

  • Match the report to your question: Start with the business question you want to answer, then choose the report category that best aligns with that goal.

  • Check your filters first: Before analyzing results, confirm your date range, location, staff, and other filters are set correctly.

  • Save report views you use regularly: Use clear, descriptive names so you can quickly find and rerun customized reports without resetting your filters or settings.

  • Verify before troubleshooting: If something looks off, confirm orders are closed and your selected date range is correct before assuming there's a data issue.
