How to Plan Instruction
Updated over a week ago

While working in Kit, you can quickly create a plan for your next event, so you know what you're going to teach from start to finish!

To get started, navigate to the 'Calendar' or 'Instruction' page, and click the 'Add/Create Event' button. Give your event a title, adjust the start/end time, and select students you would like added to the session. After saving the event, follow these steps to create your plan:

  1. Give each step a title and add text to the body of each step (ex: skills, activity, materials, URL links, etc)

  2. Format the text with the following options: bold, underline, italics, change font size, alignment, spacing, add bulleted/numbered lists

  3. Use the toolbar to add student's goals and media resources (ex: pdfs, images, or videos)

Pro-tip: Save time by using the forward slash "/" key as a shortcut to quickly add goals, media (i.e. pdf, image, video) or a bulleted/numbered list

  4. Reorder, duplicate, delete, or collapse a step while planning

Once you start planning, the status will change from 'Unplanned' to 'Plan Started' on the 'Instruction' page. As you add steps to your plan, you'll see a list of titles on the left-side panel that you can click on to go directly to a step.

While planning your event, you can easily view all students included in the session in the upper right corner of the page. Click on the 'Edit' button to quickly add or remove students from the event.

You are also able to view details from your previous session event! This provides you with a helpful reference point, allowing you to quickly review where you left off.

On the right of your screen, you will see a 'Previous Session' header along with the date of your students' most recent session. Simply click on the drop-down arrow to view the following information from that event:

  • Student attendance

  • Goals targeted

  • Quantitative and qualitative data recorded for students' goals

  • Session wrap-up notes

When you're done planning, use the 'Finish Plan' button to change the status from 'Started' to 'Planned' so you'll know that plan is ready to go! You will see a preview of your plan and you can scroll through or click on any step to review that part of the plan.
