✨ Getting Started
Head to the Instruction page and plan your session following these steps.
Click 'Start Instruction' to begin the session.
Take attendance using the checkbox beside each student's name.
When taking data and/or notes, the first goal for each student will be highlighted, and data calculators will appear on the right side.
📊 Take data and/or notes
Option #1: Short on time or have a work sample?
Enter +/- data manually by clicking in the number fields.
Option #2: Have a few minutes and want to take data/notes in real-time?
Explore our data and support trackers.
+/- Data: Kit provides multiple tools for easy data collection, including a frequency counter, timer, thumbs up/down icons for correct or incorrect responses, and a dropdown menu to record the level of assistance provided.
Track Supports: Click the plus sign (➕) when a Support works or a minus sign (➖) when a support doesn't work for your student.
Student notes: Click Customize Data under the data calculators and toggle Subjective Notes on to add notes for a specific goal or objective.
Please note: These notes will populate to the Medicaid Billing page.
Add additional info: Track informal notes, comments and reminders in the Comments section.
Please note: Comments do not currently populate to Medicaid billing, but you can upvote that feature here.
Audio recording: Clicking the red dot at the top of the page to record audio. Easily pause a recording by clicking on the pause icon or end a recording by clicking the ‘STOP’ button. Create multiple audio recordings in a single session event and review them in the Audio section.
✅ Session Wrap-up
When you're done taking data/notes, click 'End Instruction' to end your session event and view the Session Wrap-up page. Click here for more info!
Once you've reviewed your session, click 'Save & Finish' to return to the Schedule page of Instruction.
💡 Pro-tips
All data/notes from the wrap-up page populate to the Medicaid Billing page except the Plan section. The Plan section is designed to guide your planning for current and future sessions, but if you want to include it for Medicaid billing purposes, we recommend adding that info in the Session Notes section instead!
Need a hard copy? Copy/paste your Session and/or Plan notes into a doc or email to print a hard copy.
🙋 FAQs
Goals missing during instruction?
Goals missing during instruction?
Here are a few quick things to double check:
1) IEP start/end dates must be added in the student’s profile before adding goals and must align with the date of instruction.
2) Check the box beside each goal/objective you want to target during your session, or click All to bulk select. These changes will save for future sessions.
3) Click on the calculator icon beside each checked goal/objective and make sure at least one data type is toggled on.
Can I upload things like rubrics, assessments, or curriculum?
Can I upload things like rubrics, assessments, or curriculum?
While Kit doesn’t store files in a personal library, you can attach PDFs or links (like Google Docs or websites) to individual instruction events to reference and use during sessions. You can also upload finished work samples or store audio recording of students in an instruction event.
Can I track both anecdotal notes and measurable data?
Can I track both anecdotal notes and measurable data?
Yes! Kit was designed to track goals that don’t always fit in a checkbox.
You can log qualitative "Subjective" notes (like “student asked for a break independently”) or "Session" notes for a group (like "the group worked together on a project) alongside measurable data, and Kit will auto-calculate progress and generate graphs.
Does Kit help with progress monitoring?
Does Kit help with progress monitoring?
You can document IEP goal progress with both quantitative and anecdotal data, then visualize that progress in graphs to use during IEP meetings or for reports. Jot down all of those “mental notes” you make when working with students so you can use that to guide instruction and report out to the rest of the team.

Can I add work samples or videos to a session?
Can I add work samples or videos to a session?
Yes! You’ve got a couple of options:
Before instruction: In the Plan text box, you can upload a video or work sample right away. Using the toolbar at the top of the page, click the camera icon to add a video or the PDF icon to attach a work sample.
After instruction: If you’d like to add files at the end of the session, upload them to Google Drive. Next, click the three dots in the top right of the resource, select Share, and choose Copy Link. Then, paste that link into the Session Notes text box on the wrap-up page.
