Ads planner in a nutshell

Ads planner simplifies the ad creation process for your team and your clients. You can build individual ads or whole campaigns, set budgets, and track the performance of your social media advertising activities. All that while having all your work in one place and cutting down on unnecessary communication with your teammates and clients.

Below, you’ll find a quick guide to get you started using the tool right away. 👇

Skip to section:

Connect a social media ad account with Facebook

Ads planner allows you to connect several ad accounts and associate them with Facebook. This way you can manage different accounts for different clients conveniently in a single platform.

To connect an ad account, click the drop-down menu in the top-left corner of the screen > select New Ad account and follow the on-screen instructions.

👀 Don’t see your ad account? Review the permissions on Facebook and Kontentino. Read more about how to add your Facebook page to Kontentino.

Once you connect your ad account, you’ll have the option to either import existing content from Facebook Ads Manager or create a new campaign from scratch.

Import an existing campaign

Thanks to the import option, you can synchronize your existing content with Kontentino and have all your ad work under one roof. This means that if you have previously created campaigns in Facebook Business Manager, you can easily import them into Kontentino.

Click the top-right icon to start importing > select the campaigns you want to import to Ads planner > confirm by clicking on Import. Your imported campaigns will synchronize, and you’ll see them on the dashboard — however, the ads are visible only to users who have previously connected their accounts.

The option to import campaigns is only available if you’ve previously connected your ad account with Facebook.

Create a new campaign

Aside from importing existing campaigns, Ads planner allows you to build new campaigns.

To make a new campaign, click on the New Campaign button > fill in the name, objective, and budget (optional) > Save campaign.

📝 You can choose a campaign objective from the drop-down menu with five of the most popular objectives on Facebook: Brand awareness, Traffic, Post engagement, Reach, and Video views.

Don’t see an objective you need? We review them continuously and may add more in the future.

Add campaign/ad set budget

You can add a budget either at the campaign or ad set level.

At the campaign level, you can opt for Campaign budget optimization when setting up a new campaign. Move the toggle to turn this option on > select Lifetime budget or Daily budget and enter your amount. Facebook will automatically optimize the budget for the campaign.

If you don’t set your budget at the campaign level, you can add it at the ad set level when creating a new ad set. Click Budget type > choose Lifetime budget or Daily budget > enter your amount.

Navigate the campaign view

The main dashboard of Ads planner offers a simplified nested view of your campaigns for a selected time period. Thanks to this view, you can easily keep track of all your advertising activities.

To unfold a campaign, its ad sets, and ads, simply click on the campaign and then continue by clicking on an ad set inside of it.

Each campaign view contains the campaign name, date range (the start date of the first ad set and end date of the last ad set), number of ad sets and a total number of ads inside the campaign.

Visual indicators keep things even simpler and clearer: the colors orange, green, and gray mark which ads may need additional work.

Is the ad on your campaign marked orange? This means your campaign has some pending work to do. Do you see green? Your ads have been successfully exported. Is it gray? This neutral color indicates there are no ads in your campaign.

Create an ad

To keep things as simple as possible for our users, the process of creating ads is similar to that of creating posts in Calendar, with a few differences.

When drafting your ad, you can add a primary text, link, CTA button, and many others — all the popular features you may know from Facebook Business Manager. You can also select the format of your ad, such as a video or carousel.

When you insert a link, it will open and pre-populate additional fields, such as the headline and description. Additionally, you can move the toggle to the right to add UTM tags > fill out the fields to build your link.

😍 And the best part? All your work will instantly show up on the screen in an ad preview. Thanks to this hack, you’ll see your ad come to life in real time as you’re creating it. This gives you the option to review it right away and save time later.

View different placements of your ad by clicking on one of the options above the preview. You can choose from these four options: Desktop, Right side, Mobile, and Story.

Assign tasks

After you draft and save your ad, you’ll have the option to assign it to your teammates.

Click Assign task at the bottom of the ad preview page > select an assignee and drop them a message (optional). You can even mark the task as urgent and send an email notification.

👉 You can always review the history of your collaboration with others: Ads planner saves all your messages and discussions right next to the ad preview, so nothing ever gets lost in the creation process.

Send ads for approval

The platform’s collaborative nature allows you to keep all your communication and work in one place, as well as getting it approved by the client. Thanks to Ads planner, you won’t need to send links or share permissions via third-party apps. Instead, you can make use of the in-app approval option.

Click on Send for approval > select Send for client approval or Send for internal approval > assign it and customize your message (optional) > hit Send. Once the client or manager receives your request, they can approve it or send it for rework with a single click.

Export an ad

Once you’ve finished drafting your ad, it’s time to export it to Facebook Business Manager.

To export your ad, you’ll first need to name it and assign a Facebook page to it. You’ll know if your ad is ready for export thanks to a handy checklist on the ad preview page.

Time savers

Time savers save you time by helping you to complete multiple tasks at a time as opposed to doing them one by one.

You can select a number of ads and perform a bulk action to move and duplicate the ads, assign tasks, send the ads for client and internal approval, and export them to Facebook Ads Manager.

Track campaign performance

Ads planner allows you to track campaign performance and see the basic metrics, such as Budget, Objective, CPR, CTR, and Reach. These details are available on any campaign that’s been exported to Facebook and synchronized.

On each metric, you can define a goal and keep track of where your campaign is in relation to your advertising goal. As with other Ads planner features, we continuously collect feedback from our subscribers to add more functionalities to the tool.

Did you know that Kontentino can be a real lifesaver?

Social media tools are often unnecessarily complicated and have too many toggles and buttons that aren’t always intuitive or easy to navigate. Share access to Kontentino with your clients and stakeholders for a simplified overview of your campaigns.
