As part of your DBS check, you will need to show us 3 documents.

The most common combination of documents that we see is:

  • Current and valid passport (any country)

  • Current driving licence (any country)

  • UK bank statement (less than 3 months old, online PDF accepted)

If you don't have any of the documents above, there are plenty of other documents we can accept, listed below. Just remember, we must see three documents and you can’t use the same type of document twice.

Accepted Documents:

You'll need to show us ONE of the documents listed below:

  • Passport (current and valid, any country)

  • Biometric residence permit (UK)

  • Current driving licence (full or provisional) – photocard (any country)

  • Current driving licence (full or provisional) – paper version (UK or EU)

  • Birth certificate (UK only)

  • Marriage/civil partnership certificate (UK only)

  • Adoption certificate (UK only)

  • HM Forces ID card (UK only)

You'll also need to show us TWO of the documents listed below. At least ONE must show your current address:

  • Passport (current and valid, any country)

  • Biometric residence permit (UK)

  • Current driving licence (full or provisional) – photocard (any country)

  • Current driving licence (full or provisional) – paper version (UK or EU)

  • Birth certificate (UK only)

  • Marriage/civil partnership certificate (UK only)

  • Adoption certificate (UK only)

  • HM Forces ID card (UK only)

  • A valid EEA National ID card

  • A bank statement issued within the last 3 months (online PDFs are accepted)

  • A credit card statement issued within the last 3 months (online PDFs are accepted)

  • A utility bill (e.g. water, electricity, internet) issued within the last 3 months (online PDFs are accepted) – this can’t be a mobile phone bill

  • A benefit statement (e.g. Child Benefit, pension) issued within the last 3 months

  • P45 or P60 issued within the last 12 months (online PDFs are accepted)

  • A council tax bill issued within the last 12 months

  • A government or council letter (e.g. from Student Finance, from HMRC) issued within the last 3 months

Documents we can't accept:

  • Tenancy agreement letter or tenancy bill.

  • Mobile phone bill.

  • General correspondence/adverts from banks or utility companies – it needs to be an actual statement or bill.

What if I've gone paperless?

If you no longer receive paper copies, don't worry! You can show us an online PDF copy of the following documents on your phone, tablet or laptop:

  • Bank/credit card statement

  • Utility bill

  • Student Finance letter

  • P45/P60

You can share these either by showing your device's screen to the camera, or sharing your screen directly during the call. You must show us the official digital letter (PDF) you received - we can't accept photos, screenshots or photocopies.

Please make sure that the PDF document has your full name, your current address and the date it was issued.
