The type of check we do is an Enhanced DBS check including the Children's Barred List. This is the most detailed check available and it will include any unfilterable convictions, conditional discharges, cautions, reprimands and final warnings on your record. The offence does not have to be related to children.

If you are worried about your DBS check, the best thing to do is to reach out and talk to us in advance about your concerns. It's always best to talk things over before the certificate comes back if you think there might be something the DBS chooses to flag.

We're always happy to review your personal situation and support with next steps when needed.

You can also talk to Unlock about your DBS check. They are a charity providing comprehensive and free advice on this. You can explore their Help Centre here and they also have a helpline where you can speak to someone who can give you advice. They explain how to find out what's on your criminal record, as well as how to work out if that will appear on a DBS check.
