A Card Reader that's displaying an RFID error means that the reader is currently unable to communicate with the RFID/NFC circuit board on the Card Reader's electronic assembly.
This will have the affect that the Card Reader will be unable to detect the presense of any Laundry Cards or LaundryCat App accounts placed on the reader itself.
This is usually the result of:
a hardware failure with the Card Reader Board
a software issue causing the reader's RFID/NFC antenna to become temporarily disabled
Troubleshooting and Resolution
First, try power cycling the Card Reader (unplug power to the machine for 2 seconds, then turn the machine power back ON).
Once the Card Reader has finished booting up, check it's display to see if it's still display the RFID error.
If the error is temporary, and seems to go away with a power cycle, it's likely the issue is software related which can usually be corrected with a Card Reader firmware update.
Contact the Laundroworks support team (support@laundroworks.com) to report this issue so we can deploy new Card Reader firmware to see if that will correct this intermittent issue. Include your Support ID, Location ID (or location address) and the Card Reader # so we can push a firmware update to that reader.
The Card Reader must be powered ON and reporting online on the LaundroPortal in order for our support team to push a firmware update to it.
If power cycling the Card Reader does not clear the RFID error, even temporarily; then it's far more likely that the Card Reader board has suffered a hardware issue, and the Card Reader's reader board will need to be replaced in order to correct the issue.
You can still contact our support team to have updated firmware pushed to this reader, just incase it's because caused by a software issue; but in our experience, if power cycling the Card Reader does not clear the error temporarily, it's likely a hardware issue that requests a replacement reader board to correct.
