This installation guide covers Continental-Girbau: (Genius) Washers GS. Some common model numbers include GS080X, GS045P2W and more.

Required Parts

Card Reader Kit
- The reader board type MUST be "Continental" - Part #: ASSY-02-02-12
Card Reader Wiring Harness - depending on the specific model, you'll receive 1 of the following
- Part #: 02-06-67
  
  Part #: 02-06-105

Installation Steps

Step 1: Turn Machine Power OFF

It is always recommended to power the machine off before install the card readers.

Step 2: Number the reader using the DIP switches

Review our: Reader DIP Switch settings article for details on how to set the Card Reader's Machine Type, and Reader Number.

You need to do this BEFORE mounting the Card Readers onto the machines, as accessing the back of the card reader is required.

Step 3: Remove the Coin Drop (For Card-Only Installs)

The Card Reader will be mounted in the area where the Coin Drop has been removed.

Step 4: Card Reader Serial and Power Connection

Connect the Card Reader wiring harness to the RS485 port on the HMI (right behind the touch display)

This is Port X7.

It is the second port from the top on the left (if facing the front of the touch display):

This connector provides reader power and Serial communication to the machine.

Step 5: Mount the Card Reader

Secure the reader to the machine where it's coin drop has been removed.

You may need to drill a few small holes on the front panel, to mount the reader where the coin drop has been removed.

Card ready machines will have a spot where the reader mounts, but you may still need to drill a hole for one of the reader mounting studs.

Step 6: Configure Machine side Settings for Serial Communication

Power ON the machine, and get into the settings menu of the Washer by swiping left to right across the top.

To enable Serial communication on the washer, you need to Enable the Internal Sapphire setting.

Step 7: Activate the Card Reader

Proceed to secure the reader to the machine and then Activate the card reader using the Activation Card for this specific location:

Note: you MUST use the Activation Card for THIS SPECIFIC LOCATION,
or else the card reader will not appear on the LaundroPortal for this location.

This will activate the reader and programs the reader with the location's specific Support and Location IDs.

The Card Reader will then automatically connect to VAC01's wireless network and once connected, will be visible on the LaundroPortal where you can configure it's vend prices

Setting Vend Pricing

The Card Reader controls the vend prices of these machines, so vend pricing is set via the LaundroPortal.
