You can easily copy an event to help save you time and help ensure consistency when setting up new events. Some examples:

  • Copy the event setup you used for your existing Plymouth event series to start a brand new series in a new location, eg. Dartmouth event series

  • Re-use a successful event format to create a new event under different branding

  • You have several events and want to use a similar ticket setup, booking form questions, and sales configurations across all of them.

Considerations:

Before copying an event, first consider whether the Renew feature is better for your setup instead.

  • Renew an event: if you are planning to continue the same event and extend it to next year, and you’d like to maintain your historic data and reports, we recommend using the Renew feature instead.

  • Copy an event: continue reading if you intend to set up a separate but similar new event. Your new event will not be linked historically to the one you’ve copied.

Which events can be copied?

You can copy any past or upcoming event from your Events list.

How to copy an event

From your Events page, press ‘Create new event’. You’ll be offered the choice for how you want to create your new event. From here you can select ‘Copy an event’ and then select which event you’d like to copy:

Alternatively, from any event in the list, use the menu to select ‘Make a copy:

You’ll be guided through the copy step and have the option to set a new start date and event name:

Edit and launch your copied event

Your copied event will now be updated in the Events list with Unlisted status. Note that this does not launch your event on the Marketplace immediately.

You can now find your event listed under the Upcoming events list on the Event page. You can select Edit Event to review your new event, update any details and prepare it for launch:

Review and update key dates

We’ll automatically update some of your date settings based on the new event start date you’ve provided. However, you’ll need to review and update specific dates based on your new event’s schedule. Some key areas to note:

  • Event start date:

    • ✅ You’ll be asked for this in the ‘copy an event’ step

  • Race start dates:

    • ✅ Automatically updated to reflect the new start date

  • Tickets:

    • ⚠️ Available to/from dates will be copied exactly from the past event. Please review and adjust the dates for your new event schedule.

    • ❌ Any existing ticket schedules (eg. early bird) will not be copied to your new event.

Which settings and data will be copied over

  • Marketplace page content

  • Booking forms

  • Races

  • Tickets

  • Add-ons

  • Charities Opt-In

  • Discount codes

⚠️ Only codes that have been applied to ‘All events’ will be copied over. If you had set up a discount code to be event, ticket or race-specific (eg. Marathon 2024), and you would like to continue using it on your copied event, you’ll need to update the Discount Code settings to select your event. You can do this under Marketing > Discount Codes . You may need to adjust any expiry dates you have previously added.

  • Credits

⚠️ Only credits that have been applied to ‘All events’ will be carried over. If you had set up a credit to be event, ticket or race-specific (eg. Marathon 2024), and you would like to continue using it on your copied event, you’ll need to update the Credit settings to select your event and adjust the date/time. You can do this under Marketing > Credits
