A more advanced application to working with conversation templates is planning new goals. It is possible to schedule both the business goals and the learning goals through conversation forms. Ideal for a planning meeting at the beginning of the year, for example. Here are the most important things to keep in mind.

Setting up the section

You always start by creating a new section in the conversation template. Within this section you can specify various settings that help you plan goals. Think of:

  • Name and Description: Use the name and description to clarify that you expect the employees to plan new business/learning goals and provide instruction on how to answer the questions.

  • 90/180/360° Evaluation: When planning new goals, it is only possible that the employees plan their own goals, or that the goals are planned for them by their coach. The peer evaluation does not apply to these types of questions.

  • Reporting (KPI): When planning goals, it is not possible to select a KPI.

  • Theme: Depending on whether you are working with learning goals or with business goals, choose a matching theme.

Note: It is recommended that you separate the planning of both types of goals into different sections. This way you can give different settings and a matching theme for each type of goal. It is of course possible to make planning for both types of goals part of the same section.

Adding the questions

After setting up the section, you can add the goals planning questions from the toolbox.

The functionality for planning new goals means that when filling out the form, the employee is asked to add goals to the set goals cycle of the review. For example, you can ask an employee to plan new goals for the goal cycle '2022'. The employee can then set completely new goals, or link existing goals to the goal cycle '2022'. If you also have the coach review turned on, the coach can also create new goals for the employee and assign them.

When adding the question, you will see a text field in which you can formulate a question yourself and a description field for any additional information. This information is put in the conversation form and is used as an instruction to the person who fills in the form.
