At Learned, we help organisations conduct 'The Great Conversation'. An important part of this is reviewing goals during the year. This is possible through the Conversations module in Learned. Here are the most important things to keep in mind.

Build and select your template

The first step in creating the review is to select a conversation template. In our other articles, we will elaborate on how to set up these templates with the option to review goals. When creating the conversation, you simply have to choose the correct template in the dropdown.

Tip: adjust the name that is loaded from the template for each conversation with, for example, 'Q3 2021' after it. This way you can easily recognise the specific conversation in the platform.

Select the right goal cycle

Depending on the options added in the template, you will then receive a dropdown for choosing a goal cycle. This is the time frame in which the system retrieves the linked goals to add them to the conversation form per person. By linking goals to a goal cycle, the system knows when work is being done on which goal. When reviewing goals, you can select multiple goal cycles, for example Q3 2021 and Q4 2021. In addition, you can select a different goal cycle per type of goal so that you can distinguish between the periods in which business goals and learning goals must be worked on.

Note: if there are no goals linked to the selected goal cycle in the system, you will receive an error message. Make sure that goals are always linked to goal cycles to avoid an empty/incomplete questionnaire.

Check the participants

In the next step, you can add the participants. For each chosen participant you will see how many goals are linked to their account. Here too, the advice is to check whether everyone has linked the right goals to the correct goal cycle in order to avoid empty/incomplete questionnaires.

Reviewing goals in practice

After publishing the conversation, the employees can get to work. When filling out the conversation form, you will see the question that has been added to the conversation template, followed by the name of the actual goal. By clicking on the name of the goal you get a popup with the progress on the goal. If the option is set that the coach and/or peers must also evaluate goals, then this works the same for them. All reviews are ultimately visible in the conversation report.
