At Learned, we help organisations conduct 'The Great Conversation'. An important part of this is planning new goals at the beginning of the year. This is possible through the Conversations module in Learned. Here are the most important things to keep in mind.

Build and select your template

The first step in creating the conversation is to select a conversation template. In our other articles, we go into detail about how to set up these templates with the option to plan new goals. When creating the conversation, you simply have to choose the correct template in the dropdown.

Tip: adjust the name that is loaded from the template for each conversation with, for example, 'Q3 2021' after it. This way you can easily recognize the specific conversation in the platform.

Select the right goal cycle

Depending on the options added in the template, you will then receive a dropdown for choosing a goal cycle. This is the period in which you want your employees to plan the new goals. By linking goals to a goal cycle, the system knows when work is being done on which goal. Then you can easily retrieve the right goals when you want to evaluate on the goals. You can select a different goal cycle for the business goals and the learning goals, but always only 1 goal cycle per type of goal.

Planning goals in practice

After publishing the conversation, the employees can get to work. When filling out the conversation form, you get the option to set up a completely new goal, or to include existing goals in the set goal cycle. If the option is set that the coach should also plan goals, this works the same for coach. All created goals are ultimately visible in the conversation report and on the 'Goals' page of the employee.
