The Case Summary Page contains six primary panels arranged for optimal information accessibility and workflow efficiency.

1. Urgent Tasks Panel

Location: Top left corner of the Case Summary Page

Purpose: Display high priority, critical, and time-sensitive tasks related to the case.

Information Displayed:

  • A list of the most important urgent tasks for the case

  • Each task is displayed as an actionable item within the panel

Interactive Elements:

  • Complete Button – Click to action and mark the task as complete

  • Log Time Button – Click to enter time activity or a time recording against the task

  • View All Tasks – Click to navigate to the full Tasks page to view all tasks for the case

  • Three Dot Menu (…) – Click for additional actions, including:

• Edit task details

• View full case context

• Duplicate the task

• Mark as high priority

• Request an extension

• Escalate to a partner or another individual

• Notify client of delay (sends an email informing the client the task will not be completed by the due date)

• Open further details in the Task page

• Add an internal note

• Share the task with other team members

• Set a reminder

• Delete the task

2. Financial Overview Panel

Location: Below the Urgent Tasks Panel on the left-hand side

Purpose: Provide a snapshot of all key financial information relating to the case.

Outstanding Bill Balance Widget:

  • Total Outstanding Balance – The total amount of unpaid invoices for the case

  • Ageing Breakdown – The outstanding balance broken down by time period:

• 0–30 days

• 31–60 days

• 61–90 days

• 90+ days

  • Each ageing band also displays the percentage of the overall bill balance

  • Request Payment Button – Click to generate a payment link to send to the client via email

Work in Progress (WIP) Widget:

  • Total WIP – The total work in progress amount for the case

  • Unbilled Time – The amount of time recorded but not yet billed

  • Unbilled Disbursements – The amount of disbursements not yet billed

  • Create Bill Button – Click to create an invoice or bill to send to the client

Lockup Days Widget:

  • Total Lockup Days – The total number of lockup days for the case

  • Your Lockup – Lockup days attributable to the individual fee earner

  • Firm Lockup – Lockup days attributable to the firm

  • Industry Average – A benchmark comparison against the industry average

Financial Health Indicators:

Three colour-coded indicator squares are displayed below the financial widgets, showing the status of:

  • Cash Flow – The cash flow position for the case

  • Profitability – The profitability status of the case

  • Billing – The billing status of the case

Each indicator uses a colour-coded signal:

  • Green – Running as expected

  • Yellow – At risk

  • Red – Critical

3. Case Notes Panel

Location: Centre of the Case Summary Page

Purpose: View, create, and manage notes added to the case by team members.

Adding a Note:

  • Text Box – Type the note content into the text input field

  • Attach Files – Attach relevant files to the note

  • @Mention – Use the @ symbol to tag and mention specific team members

  • Tags – Add topic or category tags to the note for organisation

  • Send – Click to post the note, which then appears in the notes section of the page

Note Actions:

  • Pin to Top – Pin an important note to the top of the notes list

  • Mark as Important – Flag the note using the flag icon to highlight its importance

  • Edit – Edit a note that has already been sent

  • Copy Link – Copy a direct link to the note

  • Share – Send the note to someone outside of the Case Summary Page

  • Delete – Remove the note

View Options:

  • Summary View – Displays notes in a condensed summary format

  • Detail View – Displays notes with full detail

  • Group by Chronological – Orders notes by date and time

  • Group by Person – Groups notes by the individual who wrote them

4. Similar Cases Panel (National Archives)

Location: Below the Case Notes Panel

Purpose: Display cases from the National Archives case law database that are similar to the current case, identified through AI analysis.

Availability:

This panel is only available for contentious practice areas where case law precedent is relevant, such as:

  • Employment

  • Litigation

  • Personal Injury

The panel will not be displayed for non-contentious areas such as Conveyancing.

Information Displayed:

  • Case Name – The name of the similar case

  • Brief Overview – A summary description of the similar case

  • Relevance Confidence Score – A percentage score indicating how closely the case matches the current case (higher score indicates greater relevance)

Interactive Elements:

  • View Full Case Details – Click to open a detailed summary of the similar case, including the outcome, the court, and key legal principles

  • Judgement Button – Click to open the full case record on the National Archives website in the web browser

  • Three Dot Menu (…) – Click to query why this case is relevant, which opens a modal displaying:

Overall Relevance Score – The combined relevance percentage

Practice Area Match – Percentage score for practice area alignment

Court Authority – Percentage score for court authority relevance

Legal Concepts – Percentage score for matching legal concepts

5. Case Information Panel

Location: Right-hand side of the Case Summary Page

Purpose: Provide detailed case metadata, contacts, compliance status, and strategic information across four tabs.

Tab 1: Overview

  • Case Status – The current status of the case (Active, Closed, Pending)

  • Critical Deadline – The next critical deadline with a countdown, such as exchange of contracts or a court filing due date

  • Case Type – The category of legal matter

  • Case Reference – The unique case identifier

  • Team Members – A list of team members from the firm who are working on the case

  • Last Update – The date and time the case was last updated

  • Date Opened – The date the case was originally created

  • Client Details – Key details about the client and other relevant factors

  • Compliance Status – Shows the status of:

• AML check

• Conflict check

• Client care letter

• Client risk or case risk assessment (where relevant)

Tab 2: Contacts

Displays the key contacts and correspondence associated with the case.

Contact Actions:

  • Phone Call – Initiate a phone call to the contact

  • Send Email – Send an email to the contact

  • Schedule Meeting – Schedule a meeting with the contact

  • Three Dot Menu (…) – Additional options including:

• View communication history

• Add interaction notes

• Filter timeline to contact

• Edit contact details

• Share contact with team

• Copy contact details

• Remove from key contacts

Tab 3: Compliance

Displays detailed compliance information for the case, including:

  • AML Checks – Anti-money laundering screening status

  • ID Checks – Identity verification status

  • Conflict Check – Conflict of interest screening status

  • Client Care Letter – Whether the client care letter has been sent

  • Case Risk Assessment – Whether a risk assessment has been completed (where relevant)

Tab 4: Strategy

  • Case Summary – A summary overview of the case

  • Key Legal Issues – The principal legal issues identified

  • Confidence Score – An assessment of how well the case is being handled

  • Strategic Goals – Extracted goals such as damages sought or the desired outcome

  • Risk Assessment – A risk assessment panel providing an overview of case risks

6. Recent Activity Panel

Location: Below the Case Information Panel on the right-hand side

Purpose: Provide a condensed view of the case timeline showing the most recent documents and correspondence logged against the case.

Information Displayed:

  • The most recent documents and correspondence entries for the case

  • Key information for each entry is displayed inline

Interactive Elements:

  • Click on any entry – Opens the document or correspondence in the full case timeline

Three Dot Menu (…) – Additional actions for each entry, including:

• View details

• Preview the document

• Send a follow-up email

• Schedule a callback task

• Print the document

• Send via email, SMS, or share

• Create a copy of the link for independent sharing
