Navigating the Side Menu: Section 1 - The Classroom

Learn your way around the menu on the left side of the screen. This guide addresses the first block in this menu focusing on Teachers.

Now that you have reviewed the home page, let's look at the vertical menu along the left side of the window.

This guide provides an overview of the first section of this menu and how it differs by role. For details about each menu selection, please see the in-depth guides linked throughout this document.

Locating the Side Menu

The example shown is the home page for a teacher account.

The Classroom, School, and District Menu Blocks

The first section of the side menu includes information about the district, schools, classes, students, results and reports. This information varies depending on the role.

Classroom Menu for Teachers

Classes Menu Option

1. The Classroom menu is unique to teacher accounts. Teachers can click on Classes in the Classroom section to see a list of their classes.

2. Click on a class name to open the Class tile, with more information shown at the top, in the Details panel.

3. Below the Class details is a list of Students in this class, including options to view and print different types of student information. Clicking on a student name opens the Student tile, with details about the particular students account, as described in steps 5 through 8 below.

4. Scroll to the bottom to assign learning activities, and to see active assignments.

5. To see a list of all students for a teacher, click on Students in the left side menu.

6. Teachers can click on any student name to open the Student tile, with more student information shown at the top, in the Student Details panel.

7. To assign Accommodations and Modifications for the student, scroll down to the next tile in the student panel. The menu to assign Read-Aloud is shown in this example. High contrast and calculator can also be assigned in this tile.

Accommodations can only be assigned in the Teacher role.

8. To view the Assignment details for the student, which includes current assignments for the student for District, School, and Class levels, scroll down to the Assignments tile of the student panel.

9. To view Prior Activity Results (historical results), which includes prior year results for completed assignments from the District, School, and Class levels, scroll down to the Prior Activity Results tile of the student panel.

Results Menu Option

10. Click on the Results menu option to open the Results panel, to access information about the administration status of assigned activities.

11. Click on an activity name to open the Results Details panel for a specific activity.

12. On the Learning Activity panel, teachers can view documents, preview the activity, watch live responses, download results, print responses, view the status of the activity for each student, and view individual student responses.

Reports Menu Option

13. Click on the Reports option in the left side menu to open the Reports dashboard.

14. Click on the Activity Type button at the top of the Reports dashboard to select the type of activity to view.

15. Select a Filter if needed (optional).

16. Locate the column for the activity for which you will view a report.

17. Click on the Reports icon in the cell for the group of students for which you will view a report. In the example provided, the teacher can run reports at the teacher level (for all classes) or for a specific class.

18. Select a report to view from one of the menu options that appears. In this example, we will select the Standards Analysis report for a District activity called Grade 7 ELA Benchmark 1 October 2.

Live Responses Menu Option

19. Click on the Live Responses option in the left side menu to access the Live Responses panel and monitor administrations while they are in progress.

20. Click on the Live Responses button next to the the activity you want to monitor.

21. Click Open in Tab to access an expanded view of the Live Responses dashboard in a new tab.

Responses Reader Menu Option

22. Click on the Responses Reader option in the left side menu to access the upload feature for Plain Paper scoring of handwritten responses.
