Step 1: Start the share
Look at the control bar in the middle of the call. Click the third button. It has an up arrow. That is the Share Screen button. One click is enough.
Tip: If nothing happens, make sure your internet tab is active and not behind another window.
Step 2: Choose what to share
A chooser window pops up. You will see three choices across the top. Pick the one that matches what you want to show, then click Share.
Option A: Browser Tab
Use this if you want to show only one browser tab.
Click Browser Tab at the top.
Click the tab you want to share from the list on the left. A preview appears on the right.
If you want people to hear sound from that tab, turn on the Also share tab audio toggle at the bottom.
Click Share.
Good for: Showing a website, a YouTube video with sound, or a web app.
Important: The Share button stays grey until you select a tab.
Option B: Window
Use this if you want to show a single app, like PowerPoint or a PDF reader.
Click Window at the top.
Click the app window you want to share.
Click Share.
Good for: Presentations or documents.
Note: Window sharing does not include your computer’s sound. If you need sound, use Chrome Tab instead.
Option C: Entire screen
Use this if you want to show everything on your display.
Click Entire screen at the top.
If you have more than one screen, pick which screen to share.
Click Share.
Good for: Full walkthroughs where you plan to switch between apps.
Note: Entire screen does not include your computer’s sound. For audio, use Chrome Tab.
See your Step 2 screenshots to recognize each option and the audio toggle.
Step 3: You are live
You will see a small banner at the top of your screen that says the site is sharing your screen. There is a Stop sharing button on it.
When you finish, click Stop sharing. That ends the share right away.
You can click Hide to tuck the banner out of the way while you present. You can always bring it back.
Easy safety checklist
Close any tabs or files you do not want others to see.
Pause notifications so pop ups do not appear while you are sharing.
Plug in your laptop if your battery is low.
If you need to switch what you are sharing, click Stop sharing, then start again with the new tab, window, or screen.
Troubleshooting in plain words
The Share button is grey. Select a tab or window first. Then the button turns blue.
No one hears my video. Only Chrome Tab can share tab audio. Pick Chrome Tab and turn on the audio toggle.
I clicked Share but nothing appears. The chooser might be behind another window. Minimize other windows or check your taskbar or dock.
My browser asks for permission. On macOS, open System Settings, search for Screen Recording, allow access for your browser, then try again. On Windows, make sure your browser is allowed to record the screen in Privacy settings.
I picked the wrong thing. Click Stop sharing and start again. It takes a few seconds.
