The Lifeway On Demand app allows you to download study sessions temporarily for offline viewing. However, even with downloaded sessions, you will still need Wi-Fi access to play the video via the application. This ensures you can engage with your discipleship resources with minimal interruptions.
Downloading a Study Session
Navigate to the "All Studies" Section:
Once signed in, go to the "All Studies" tab where you can view all the studies you have acquired or redeemed.
Select a Study:
Tap on a study to view its available sessions.
Download a Session:
On each session card, which includes the thumbnail, title, description, and the session length, you will find the Download button at the bottom of the card.
Tap the Download button to begin downloading the session to your device.
As the download progresses, you will see a progress bar indicating how much of the session has been saved.
Cancel Download (Optional):
If you decide to stop the download before completion, you can tap Cancel next to the progress bar.
Viewing Downloaded Sessions (Wi-Fi Required)
Navigate to the "Downloaded" Section:
Once a session has been successfully downloaded, it will appear in the "Downloaded" section of the app, which you can access by tapping on the Studies tab and selecting Downloaded.
Playing Downloaded Sessions:
To watch a session offline, tap on the downloaded study. The video player will open, displaying the session you selected.
Engagement Options for Downloaded Sessions:
All the same video player engagement options available for online sessions are also available for offline viewing, including:
Play/Pause
Rewind/Fast Forward (using the 10-second buttons or by dragging the progress bar)
Full Screen Mode
Playback Speed settings (0.5x, 0.75x, 1x, 1.25x, 1.5x, 2x)
Casting options to a connected device (such as AirPlay or Chromecast) or Bluetooth device
Managing Downloaded Sessions
Track Your Progress:
Just like online sessions, you can track your viewing progress for offline videos. Each downloaded session will display a progress bar showing how much of the session you've completed.
Removing Downloads:
Once you’ve completed watching a session or no longer need it on your device, you can remove it:
In the Downloaded section, find the study or session you wish to remove.
Tap "Remove" to delete the downloaded content from your device.
This frees up storage space while keeping your app organized.
Download Quality Settings
You can choose the quality of downloaded videos based on your data preferences or storage needs:
Go to the User Icon in the top-right corner.
Select Downloads settings and choose your preferred download quality:
High (1080p)
Medium (720p)
Data Saver (270p)
You can also specify whether you allow downloads over cellular networks by adjusting the settings for cellular downloads.
Workaround Methods for Offline Viewing on Computers
If you wish to download videos via a browser for offline access on a computer, consider the following steps:
Open Google Chrome on your computer and log in to my.lifeway.com/digital-media.
Find the video session you wish to download and start playback.
Right-click on the video player and select "Save video as" to save the file to your computer.
Important Notes: Downloading videos outside the standard app functionalities could breach copyright or usage policies. Always ensure compliance with Lifeway’s terms and conditions.
