If a payment fails, LumaDock does not shut down your VPS immediately.

There is a short sequence of reminders and retries before any suspension happens.

This article explains exactly what to expect, how long you have to act, and what happens to your data.

What happens when a payment fails

When an invoice is not paid on time, the system starts a controlled process instead of taking instant action.

You will receive email reminders about the unpaid invoice so you know there is an issue.

The billing system automatically retries the payment several times using your saved payment method.

If the invoice remains unpaid, your VPS is suspended 1 calendar day after the due date.

During suspension, the server is powered off but not deleted. You can restore service at any point by paying the outstanding invoice.

Is there a grace period before suspension?

A short grace period can exist, but it is not guaranteed.

In some cases, services may be suspended immediately after the invoice due date. In other cases, a brief grace period applies.

If a grace period exists, it is shown clearly on the invoice or inside the control panel.

One rule is fixed and always applies.

Suspension rule

If payment is not received within 1 calendar day after the invoice due date, the VPS is suspended.

What suspension means for your server

Suspension does not mean deletion.

Your VPS is powered off and becomes inaccessible, but all disks and resources remain attached.

No configuration changes are made and no files are removed during this phase.

As soon as the invoice is paid, the VPS is powered back on and continues running as before.

Data retention during suspension

Your data is kept safe for a limited time after suspension.

LumaDock retains your data for 5 days after a VPS is suspended for billing reasons. During this window, nothing is deleted.

If payment is completed within those 5 days:

  • The VPS is reactivated

  • All data remains intact

After 5 days of suspension, the VPS is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

This includes disks, snapshots, and backups attached to that server.

Once deletion happens, recovery is not possible.
