How to invite users and manage account permissions

Invite users to your LumaDock account and control what each person can access.

Written by Andy Wallace

User Management lets the account owner give other people access to a LumaDock account without sharing login details. Each invited user signs in separately and can only perform the actions permitted by the owner.

Invite a user

Only the account owner can invite users or manage their permissions.

Step 1 – Open User Management

Sign in to LumaDock and open User Management. You can also click your name in the top-right corner and select User Management.

Step 2 – Enter the user’s email address

Click Invite New User and enter the email address of the person you want to invite.

If they already have a LumaDock login, they can accept the invitation using their existing credentials. Otherwise, they can create a login after opening the invitation.

Step 3 – Choose their permissions

Select All Permissions to grant every available permission or select Choose Permissions to control their access individually.

Grant only the permissions the person needs. Selecting All Permissions does not make them the account owner.

Step 4 – Send the invitation

Review the selected permissions and click Send Invite.

The recipient must open the invitation email and follow the included link. Invitations expire after seven days.

Understand the available permissions

The invitation form provides the following options:

  • Modify Master Account Profile: View and change the main account profile information.

  • View & Manage Contacts: View, add and update account contacts.

  • View Products & Services: Access products, services and add-ons on the account.

  • View & Modify Product Passwords: View or reset service passwords and perform related actions.

  • Perform Single Sign-On: Sign in to supported services through the LumaDock control panel.

  • View Domains: View domain registrations associated with the account.

  • Manage Domain Settings: Change domain settings such as nameservers, contact details and transfers.

  • View & Pay Invoices: View invoices and make payments.

  • View & Accept Quotes: View and accept available quotes.

  • View & Open Support Tickets: Open, view and respond to support tickets.

  • View & Manage Affiliate Account: View affiliate information and request withdrawals where available.

  • View Emails: View messages stored in the account’s email history.

  • Place New Orders/Upgrades/Cancellations: Order services and request upgrades or cancellations.

Change a user’s permissions

Open User Management, find the user and select Manage Permissions. Select or clear the required permissions and click Save Changes.

The account owner always has full permissions. The owner’s permissions cannot be limited from this page.

Manage pending invitations

A user who has not accepted their invitation appears as pending.

Select Resend Invite to send a new invitation email. Select Cancel Invite to invalidate the invitation before it is accepted. The recipient is not notified when an invitation is cancelled.

Remove a user’s access

Open User Management, find the user and select Remove Access. Confirm the removal when prompted.

The user will no longer be able to access or manage this account. Removing access does not delete their personal LumaDock login or affect any other accounts they can access.

Users and contacts are different

A user has a separate login and can manage parts of the account according to their permissions.

A contact does not receive login access. Contacts are used to store another person’s details, send them selected account emails or use a different recipient for billing communications. You can manage them from the Contacts page.

Invite someone as a user when they need to sign in and manage the account. Add them as a contact when they only need to receive selected communications.
