Pupils can work entirely on their own in the Practice mode. As a teacher, you don’t need to assign assignments — pupils can independently practice various areas and skills based on the core content. Material is available from Year R up to year 12 at the upper secondary level! Perfect for extra practice when pupils need to focus on a specific skill 💡
For Pupils:
Navigating the Practice Mode
Pupils click on the Practice tab.
Once inside, they’ll see cards with problems to solve.
If they click on MAP in the top right corner, they’ll see which school year level the problems in each card are based on (according to their registered year). They can also navigate between different skills. Pupils can work with cards from any year group — if the teacher hasn't restricted this on their side.
Pupils can also receive manual recommendations directly from their teacher. When a pupil clicks the Practice tab, a box appears showing the recommended Practice cards assigned by the teacher.
Each card has three stars:
⭐ One star means the pupil got 50–69% of the answers correct.
⭐⭐ Two stars mean they got 70–89% correct.
⭐⭐⭐ Three stars mean they got 90–100% correct.
When pupils open a card, they solve the problems just like in a regular assignment.
Problems regenerate every time and can be repeated an unlimited number of times.
Features such as translation, speech synthesis, drawing area, and automatic correction work as usual. One key difference is that pupils only get one attempt per problem, and they cannot view the correct answers. The goal is to keep practising until they achieve at least 70% accuracy.
Pupils can also get help in Practice mode by viewing examples of similar calculations.
They do this by clicking on the lightbulb icon.
When pupils have answered all the problems in a card, they’ll get different options depending on their results:
No star: Pupils must redo the same card (with new numbers).
One, two, or three stars: Pupils may proceed to the next card in the area. The next card is usually slightly more challenging, as the card structure is designed to gradually guide pupils forward in their learning journey. Pupils can always return to All Cards and choose any they want to practice.
For Teachers:
As a teacher, you have an overview of the Practice on your own mode. Click the Practice tab on the left. There, you can follow pupils' progress and see which cards they’ve worked on in different areas. You can view their answers and calculations.
Select a class in the top left corner.
You’ll then see the answers and calculations for pupils in that class. You’ll initially see the cards for the year group the class is registered as, but you can also scroll between year levels in the top right corner. You can filter by individual pupils to see what each has worked on.
Above the cards, you can see which skills the cards belong to.
If you filter to a specific pupil (top right), you’ll see which cards that pupil has worked with and how many stars they’ve earned.
You can also choose which year levels your pupils should have access to.
You can lock or unlock levels for the entire class or for individual pupils.
To set this, click the Year Level in the top right corner and then click the Key icon.
This way, for example, you can give pupils who need more challenge access to higher year levels, or restrict access to their current level if they need to focus on what you're working on this school year.
Manual Recommendations:
You as a teacher can also send manual recommendations to your pupils.
This allows you to recommend or assign specific Practice cards to individual pupils, groups, or whole classes.
To send a manual recommendation:
Go to the Practice tab and click on the card you want to recommend.
View Answers and Calculations
To view pupils’ answers and calculations, click on a card.
You’ll see a list of pupils in the class and how many stars they earned.
Click a pupil’s name to see their answers and calculations.
What is shown is always the most recent attempt for that card.
