Category Sales Report

Track product sales by category and monitor which parts of your menu perform best—day by day.

📍 Where to Find It

  • Go to Back Office > Reports

  • Click on Category Sales


🗓️ What This Report Shows

This report shows daily sales summaries for a selected period, with the ability to drill into each day to see sales by product category.

Use it to:

  • Monitor quantity and value of items sold

  • Compare sales across different days

  • Analyze product category performance

  • Spot trends and seasonal patterns


📆 1. Set a Date Range

Use the Start and End date fields to define the time period you want to review. Then click Refresh.


📊 2. View Daily Sales Summary

Each row in the summary represents one day within your selected range.

📘 Daily Summary Fields

Field

Description

Date

The day of service

Quantity

Total items sold on that day

Total Sales Volume

Total value of sales for that day (without promotions, tips and taxes)

Click any row to open a detailed category-level breakdown for that specific day.


📂 3. Category Breakdown for a Selected Day

This view shows the performance of each category on that day.

📘 Category Breakdown Fields

Field

Description

Category

The category (e.g., Cocktails, Main Course, Modifiers)

Quantity

Number of items sold in that category

Total Sales / overall %

Share of this day’s sales compared to the full selected date range

Total Sales / level %

This category’s share of total sales on that specific day

Total Sales Volume

Revenue generated by that category on that day (without promotions, tips and taxes)

💡 Modifiers and remarks are grouped into their own category so you can track option usage separately from main products.


📤 Exporting the Report

Click the orange download icon at the top-right corner to export the full report as a CSV file.


🧠 Best Practices

  • Analyze weekends vs. weekdays to spot customer behavior patterns

  • Use the % breakdowns to optimize menu balance and pricing

  • Watch for underperforming categories on high-volume days

Q: Can I filter this report by employee or table?
A: No—this report focuses solely on sales grouped by product category.

Q: Are modifiers included in main product categories?
A: No. Modifiers are grouped in a separate category called "Modifiers" to give you a clear view of their usage and revenue.
