🏷️ Menu Labels in the Back Office

Use labels to include or exclude products from promotions — without changing your menu. Set them up directly in the Back Office.

🧾 What is a Menu Label

Menu labels let you group or filter products for promotions — without having to reorganize your menu or product setup. Once created, labels can be applied to individual products and then used to include or exclude them from specific promotions.

For example, you could create a label like “Exclusion for alcohol” and apply it to all alcoholic products, then exclude that label from a promotion like “15% off orders over $75”.

This article explains how to create and apply labels in your Back Office.

🧭 Step-by-step guide

1. Create a New Label

Go to Marketing > Menu Labels, then click New label.

2. Fill in the Label Details

  • Name your label (e.g. Exclusion for alcohol).

  • Color – This field is currently not in use. You can leave it blank.

  • Keep the label private — public labels are not currently used.

3. Apply the Label to Products

Go to Menu > Products, select a product, and scroll down to the Labels section. Choose the label(s) you created.

Repeat this step for each product you want to group.

4. Use the Label in a Promotion

Go to Marketing > Promotions and either create or edit a promotion.

In the Configuration step, choose to apply or exclude labels:

  • Apply label to restrict the promotion to specific items

  • Exclude label to prevent the discount from applying to certain products (e.g. alcohol)

📝 If no labels are selected, the promotion will apply to all items in the order.

💡 Best practices

  • Use clear, reusable names like Brunch Items, Exclusion for alcohol, or Non-discounted beverages.

  • Only apply one type of label at a time (either apply or exclude in a promotion, not both).

  • Review and clean up unused labels regularly to keep your Back Office organized.
