Drawing from scratch gives you a blank canvas and full control over where the walls go. It's the right starting point when you already know the shape of the space — an existing home you're measuring, a sketch on paper, or a footprint you have in mind.
Starting a blank plan
From your home page, choose Draw plan from scratch.
You'll land on an empty canvas with a Start here hint pointing at the drawing tool. It disappears as soon as you begin.
Drawing your walls
Click Draw wall in the bottom toolbar.
Click to place your first corner, then click again for each corner after it.
As you draw, dimensions appear.
Click Select when you're done drawing.
Naming and furnishing your rooms
Once you've closed a room, select it. The inspection panel on the right lets you:
Set the room type — bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and so on. New rooms start as Generic.
Furnish room — available once you've chosen a specific type. Click it and Maket furnishes the room for you.
Open-plan spaces with invisible walls
Not every space needs a wall between it. If your kitchen, dining and living areas flow into one another, draw them as separate rooms and then make the walls between them invisible.
Draw your rooms as normal, with walls between them.
Click the wall you want to hide.
Turn on the Invisible toggle.
The wall disappears from your plan, but Maket still treats the spaces as separate rooms. That means you can give each one its own room type and furnish them individually, while the plan reads as a single open space.
Two things to know:
Only internal walls can be made invisible — exterior walls always stay visible.
A wall with a door or window in it can't be made invisible. Remove the opening first.
Invisible walls can still be selected and moved, so you can keep adjusting your layout afterwards.
Let Maket finish the layout for you
You don't have to draw everything yourself. Once you've put something on the canvas, ask Maket in the chat and it will work from what's already there.
Start with an outline
Draw the outer shape of the home, then tell Maket what you need inside it — how many bedrooms, how many bathrooms, and anything else that matters. Maket fills in the rooms while keeping your boundary exactly as you drew it.
Keep the rooms you've already placed
If you've already positioned a room exactly where you want it, say so. Ask for something like "furnish this as a three-bedroom house without moving the bedroom I placed" and Maket lays out the rest around it, leaving your room where it is.
