Track Time on Work Orders

Learn how to track time spent on work orders in Makula Field Service, including using the stopwatch, adding descriptions, tags, and billable status.

How do I track time on a work order?

Navigation: Open your Field Service workspace, then select Work Orders from the sidebar.

There are two ways to track time on a work order.


Method 1: Use the stopwatch

  1. Open the work order you want to track time against.

  2. Click the stopwatch icon at the top of the work order detail page to start recording time.

  3. Click the stopwatch again to stop recording.

  4. A modal will appear where you can add additional details about the tracked time.

  5. Edit the recorded time if needed.

  6. Click Save to store the time entry.


Method 2: Add a manual time entry

  1. Open the work order you want to track time against.

  2. Scroll to the Time Tracking section.

  3. Click + Add Time Entry.

  4. Complete the time entry form.

  5. Click Save to record the entry.


What information can I add to a time entry?

Each time entry can include:

  • Description: Notes about the work performed

  • Start Time: When the work began

  • End Time: When the work finished

  • Duration: Total time spent (calculated automatically or entered manually)

  • Date: The date the work was carried out

  • Tags: Labels to categorise the type of work

  • Billable Status: Mark whether the time is billable to the customer


How do I edit or delete a time entry?

  1. Open the work order containing the time entry.

  2. Scroll to the Time Tracking section.

  3. Click the ellipsis (three dots) next to the entry you want to modify.

  4. Select Edit to update the entry or Delete to remove it.


Who can view time tracking entries?

Time tracking entries are visible to your internal team. Use the billable status to distinguish between chargeable and non-chargeable work when generating reports or invoices.
