Subprojects help you organize related projects under one parent project. This is useful when a larger project has smaller projects that need to stay connected.
1. Set Up a Subproject Template
Before creating a subproject, you need to connect its template to a parent template.
Go to Settings → Project Templates.
Click Add New Template.
Select Mark as subproject template.
Choose the parent template.
Save the template.
Important: Once a template is connected as a subproject, this relationship cannot currently be removed.
A parent template can have multiple subproject templates, but each subproject template can have only one parent.
2. Convert an Existing Template
You can also turn an existing template into a subproject.
Go to Settings → Project Templates.
Find the template you want to use.
Click the three dots (...).
Select Convert to subproject.
Choose the parent template.
The Convert to subproject option is only available for templates that are not already part of a subproject relationship.
3. Add a Subproject
Once your templates are connected, you can add a subproject to a parent project.
Open a project created from the parent template.
Click the three dots (...) in the top-right corner.
Select Add subproject.
Choose the location.
Enter a name.
Select the subproject template.
Create the subproject.
The available subproject templates are based on the templates connected to that parent.
Once you create your first subproject, you’ll see it listed in the parent project's Summary. Use the + button to quickly add more.
4. Import Subprojects from a File
You can also create multiple subprojects at once using an Excel file.
Go to Create New → Project from File.
Upload your file.
During field mapping, map your Excel column to Parent Key or Name.
Enter either the parent's Matidor Key or project name in your file.
Complete the import.
Matidor will use this information to connect each subproject to the correct parent project.
Note: Subproject imports and regular project imports are handled separately.
5. View Parent Information
Subprojects can view information from their parent project in the Parent fields section.
These fields are read-only, so they cannot be edited from the subproject.
Subprojects can also see the parent project's map layers.
6. View Subproject Layers
On the parent project, drawings from its subprojects appear as read-only map layers.
To manage them:
Open the parent project's map.
Find Subproject layers.
Use the individual toggles to show or hide each subproject's drawings.
This makes it easy to see how the different subprojects fit into the overall project.
