What are Product Discounts?

Product discounts automatically apply when customers buy qualifying brands, categories, products, or tags that meet your rules.

Updated this week

Product Discounts are automatic, meaning they apply when a customer’s cart meets your defined conditions — no manual action required by staff. Once active, Meadow automatically applies them when their conditions are met.

How It Works

Follow these steps to create a Product Discount in Meadow:

  1. Select your discount type.

    • Choose Product when creating a new discount.

    • Add a clear name and description (e.g., 20% Off Edibles or Spend $50 on Wyld, Get 10% Off).

  2. Set your discount amount.

    • Choose between Amount Off or Percent Off.

      • Example: $5 off or 10% off

    • Percent off discounts support "Maximum Discount Value"

      • Example: 20% off up to $50

  3. Define your trigger products.

    • Select the products that qualify by Brand, Category, Subcategory, Product, or Tag.

      • Use Match All if all selected conditions must be true (e.g., Brand = Wyld and Category = Edibles).

      • Use Match Any if any one condition qualifies (e.g., Brand = Wyld OR Camino).

  4. Set your threshold.

    • Choose how much the customer must buy or spend before the discount applies.

      • Minimum Quantity: Activates after a specific number of qualifying items (e.g., Buy 1, 2+).

      • Minimum Subtotal: Activates after a spend amount on qualifying products (e.g., Spend $50 on Wyld).

  5. Choose how it’s applied.

    • Discount Code: Can be applied using a discount code.

    • Automatic: It is applied automatically to applicable orders.

  6. Add optional customer and order rules.

    • Customer Attributes: Limit by customer group, birthday, or customer order count.

    • Order Attributes: Restrict by order type (pickup, delivery, in-store) or delivery zone.

  7. Add scheduling and stack rules.

    • Set start and end dates or times, or specific days of the week.

    • Choose whether the discount can stack with others. If non-stackable, Meadow automatically applies the best available deal.

  8. Add exclusions or filters.

    • Exclude specific brands, categories, products, or tags.

    • Limit the discount to a price range or exclude items already on sale.

  9. Save and activate.

    • Once saved, Product Discounts automatically apply to qualifying carts both online and in-store.

    • They do not appear in any discount list in POS.

Tips & Notes

  • Product Discounts are automatic only — they never appear in POS discount lists.

  • Ideal for brand, category, or vendor campaigns that don’t require manual input.

  • Combine with scheduling for short-term or recurring promotions.

  • Always check exclusions and price filters to protect margins.

  • Use Global Restrictions in Discount Settings to block discounts on certain brands or categories storewide.
