How to Run a Budtender Bingo Sales Contest

Use Meadow's free Bingo Card Builder to turn your sales and store goals into printable bingo cards that motivate your floor team.

Overview

šŸŽÆ Budtender Bingo turns your sales and store goals into a printable bingo card for your team. Each square is a goal. When a budtender hits one, a manager initials the square. Five in a row wins a prize.

The Bingo Card Builder is free, takes about 5 minutes, and doesn't require a login.

Step 1: Set up your contest

Fill in the contest details at the top of the builder. Everything you enter prints on the card.

  • Store name and card title (for example, "Budtender Bingo")

  • Contest runs: the dates of the contest, like "Oct 1 to Oct 31"

  • Prize for BINGO: what a winner gets, like "$100 bonus"

  • Free space text: a short message for the center square

  • Rules: printed at the bottom of every card. Edit them to match how you want to run the contest.

šŸ’” Tip: Run the contest for a full month. Most budtenders can hit their first BINGO in about 2 weeks, and a month gives everyone time to go for a full card. Offer a bonus prize for filling the whole card to keep people going after their first win.

Step 2: Pick your 24 goals

A card has 24 goals plus the free center square. The builder comes with a library of goals sorted into categories:

  • Shift and store ops: cycle counts, zero drawer variance, perfect clock-ins

  • Customers: SMS opt-ins, 5-star reviews, loyalty sign-ups, first-time customers

  • Products and brands: specific products, categories, and your brand of the week

  • Ticket size: high-dollar sales and larger baskets

  • Upsells and add-ons: batteries with carts, deal of the day, upsizing

Check the box next to a goal to use it. Click any goal to change its wording, or add your own at the bottom of the list. The counter shows how many goals you've picked.

If you pick more than 24, each card uses a random 24, so cards will have different goals.

šŸ’” Tip: Keep goals specific and easy to verify. "Sell 3 pre-roll multipacks in 1 shift" works better than "Sell more pre-rolls." Goals counted over 3 shifts give part-time staff a fair shot.

Step 3: Choose how many cards to print

  • Enter the number of cards you need. Staff write their name on the card, so you don't need to enter names.

  • Shuffle squares on every card is on by default, so each card has a different layout and no two cards match. Turn it off if you want every card to be identical.

  • Don't like a layout? Click Reshuffle to get a new mix.

Step 4: Download or print

  • Click Download PDF to save your cards, or Print cards to print straight from your browser.

  • Each card prints on its own letter-size page. Print at 100% scale so nothing gets cut off.

  • Your settings are saved in your browser, so you can come back next month and print a new round.

Running the contest on the floor

  1. Kick it off at a team huddle. Hand out cards, explain the prize, and go over the rules.

  2. Managers sign off on every square. Each square has an "INIT" line. A goal only counts once a manager has checked it and initialed it.

  3. Check goals in Meadow. Many goals can be checked in Meadow: sales in the budtender's transaction history, SMS opt-ins on the customer's profile, and cycle counts in Meadow Admin.

  4. Ask for proof on reviews. A screenshot of the 5-star review on any platform works.

  5. Celebrate winners. Announce each BINGO at the next huddle to keep momentum going.
