How do I manage multiple Inventory Locations?

Multi-location Inventory helps you manage inventory more closely in multiple physical locations

Updated over a week ago

Where are my pre-rolls? Do we have any more live resin in the back? Who moved the case of edibles to the other room?

Using inventory locations allows you to keep track of what products you have where they are.

It also enables you to set up more than one sales channel so you can differentiate between inventory for orders made via your website (for Pickup and Delivery) or at POS (in store).

You can use locations to manage inventory across physical locations (ie. Sales Floor, Quarantine, and The Vault) and sales channels, making it easier to find when and where loss is occurring or separate products when needed. All inventory actions (purchase orders, cycle counts, reconciliations, conversions, transfers) have a locations drop down which will need to be specified if using multiple locations.

If you do not set up multiple locations, the system will automatically create a single default location for all inventory transactions.

Setting up inventory locations

  • By default, you will only have one location where all inventory is stored/recorded.

  • To create, edit or delete an inventory location, click on Locations in the sidebar under Inventory.

  • Multiple locations add a layer of complexity to the system that touches all operations. Every time inventory moves from one location to another, a transfer will have to be created in Meadow. Please only set up locations if you need them.

Sales Channels

  • Different types of sales can pull from different inventories. For example, you can set up in-store sales to pull from a specific front of house inventory and delivery/pickup sales to pull from a separate inventory.

  • Under “In-store Inventory Location” select the location you want products taken from for in-store sales (created at POS or Admin).

  • Under “Embed Inventory Location” select the location you want products taken from for delivery and pickup orders (created via your embedded menu or in Admin).

Transfers

Inventory can be moved between locations using Transfers. Just create a new transfer and select the location you are moving products from and to. Once you select a product you will be shown the quantity you have in the source and destination locations. Enter the products and quantities you want to transfer between location and click “Create Inventory Transfer.” Transfers can only take place between two locations at a time (the source/from and destination/to locations).

Purchase-orders

When receiving product(s) into inventory, you will be asked to select a location. You can either receive all inventory into a single location, or you can separately select the location for each line item you are receiving.

Cycle-counts

Cycle counts take place in specific locations. When you start a cycle count, you will be asked to select the location where you are counting products. The cycle count will only update inventory quantities for the selected location (if you have products in other locations their quantities will not be changed).
