When to use Gram vs Item as the Menu Display Unit

Updated over 2 years ago

The menu display unit is used to display your products on your Meadow embedded (online) menu, POS, and on receipts. It will not affect how inventory is tracked in the system. This unit (gram/item) coincides with the 'Amount' field in the pricing section to create an accurate description of a product.

  • [Menu Display Unit - gram], [Amount - 3.5] displays as 3.5 Grams

  • [Menu Display Unit - item], [Amount - 1] displays as 1 Item)

When should you use Gram vs Item?

GRAM

  • Flower products (not including pre-rolls)

ITEM

  • All other categories of product

Amount Field

Once you select the Menu Display Unit, you should also set the corresponding amount field in the pricing section of the product page. The 'Amount' for anything sold in grams should be the actual gram weight of the product. Here are some examples of products that are setup properly

  • Eighth of Pre-packed Flower - Menu Display Unit: Gram, Amount: 3.5

  • Chocolate Bar - Menu Display Unit: Item, Amount: 1

  • Pre-roll - Menu Display Unit: Item, Amount: 1

  • Vape cart - Menu Display Unit: Item, Amount: 1
