Do your delivery drivers leave with extra products and fulfill orders that come in while they're on the road?
This approach, commonly called the ice cream truck model or dynamic delivery, requires you to keep track of inventory on a trunk by trunk basis for every car.
With Meadow, you can know exactly what products every driver has, and can automate order assignment to the correct driver based on zones.
Reach out to the Meadow support team for more information on getting set up.
Do you pack all orders at the hub? Or do cars take out inventory and pack orders in the car?
You can set up two types of delivery orders - by default these are called standard (for hub and spoke) and express (for dynamic delivery), but you can customize the names and descriptions customers see in Settings --> Zones.
Each zones has a delivery type - this is covered in more detail under Embed.
A zone is a geographic region where customers can order. You can draw a zone to be as small as a neighborhood or large enough to cross counties (or even cover the whole state).
For every zone you create, you can set a minimum order value, ETA range, tax rates and open hours.
Zones can select one or more inventory locations and/or vehicles.
If a zone only has one vehicle assigned, and that vehicle has an Onfleet worked (driver) assigned, orders will be automatically assigned to them in Onfleet.
If a zone has no vehicles/locations assigned, orders revert to using the default inventory location in Settings.
Learn more about creating delivery zones in the video below.
Vehicles are a type of inventory location in Meadow.
Use inventory Transfers to move products to and from vehicles.
Assign an Onfleet driver to each vehicle to automatically dispatch Onfleet tasks to drivers.
Select one or more vehicles in the "filter inventory by location" selector on the Inventory page to quickly see what's in each vehicle.
EMBEDDED MENU
If you have more than one delivery order type available, customers will see the "Embed Pick Order Type Prompt" from Settings --> Delivery on your menu.
If customers enter an address in a zone with one or more inventory locations/vehicles selected, the menu they see will reflect the products in those locations/vehicles.
ONFLEET
Onfleet drivers can be assigned to one or more vehicles in the Vehicles list.
If a customer orders from a zone with only one vehicle, the order will be auto-dispatched to the assigned Onfleet driver. If you do not want
ADMIN - Assigning Draft Orders
If an order is created in a zone with multiple vehicles or inventory locations selected, it will be created as a draft order (without inventory assigned to it).
The dispatcher will have to scroll to the bottom of the order to choose the inventory location and assign product to the order.
