Can I use product barcodes for inventory and POS?

You can scan product barcodes off of packaging and into the system, or create them using the Meadow app's label printing function.

NOTE: Using manufacturer barcodes to scan at POS only surfaces product info and NO Metrc UID info. This will require selecting a Metrc package from the screen and is inferior to using Meadow's Metrc barcodes.

  • If you are using a PC to enter barcodes into the system, you will need to scan the QR code below to put the scanner in the correct mode. First, un-pair the scanner to make sure it is not connected to any iPads or devices.

  • If you are using an iPad to enter barcodes into Admin, scan the QR code below to put the scanner in iPad browser mode.

Once your scanner is in the right mode, turn on your computer's Bluetooth, find the scanner and pair them. You're ready to scan.

  • Find the product you want to enter the barcode(s) for. Choose the Point of Sale tab at the top. It will look like the picture below.

  • Select the field next to the option and scan the barcode. The number will populate the select field.

  • When you're done, click Save. You can now find these products using scans at POS. Scanning a barcode will add that product to the order. The barcodes can also be used for Cycle Counts and Purchase Orders.

  • Please note, if you scan a barcode more than once, the number will be input multiple times. Please make sure that the number under the barcode is scanned in only once.

The Socket scanners use Bluetooth, so if you are experiencing difficulties, please try the following steps

  • Unpair the scanner: select "Forget Device" in the iPad's Bluetooth settings. Turn off the iPad's bluetooth.

  • Next, hold down the power and scanner buttons at the same time for 3 seconds (it will beep). It is now unpaired from all devices.

  • Turn the scanner on again and scan the correct barcode for the device type you are using (iPad or PC).

  • Turn Bluetooth on again in iPad device settings and try to pair again.
