How do I use Substitutions?
How do I use Substitutions?
Updated over 2 years ago

You can use substitutions to make sure customers can order any quantity you can fulfill, even if you don't have the increment/size/option they ordered.

If you have two eighths in stock, a customer can still order a quarter, and the system will:

  • tell you which units to use (2x eighth)

  • correctly handle the inventory (subtract the eighths), and

  • give you the price for the unit purchased (quarter oz. price).

You can make as many substitution rules as you want. For example:

  • An ounce could be substituted with 2 halves, 4 quarters, 8 eighths, or 27 grams.

  • So long as you have any of those available, a customer will be able to order an ounce from your menu.

NOTE regarding Cost per Unit in Substitutions:

If you create substitution rules for larger pricing options that don't hold any inventory, they will not automatically calculate the cost per unit (ie, you only have eighths in stock and you have a substitution to pull 4 eighths if someone buys a half oz). In this case, you would need to manually enter the cost per unit for the larger options. Click the button below to see how to edit cost per unit.
